Hays High School Celebrates Miriam Hyak!
Hays HS Senior Artist is still competing! Please wish advanced art student Miriam Hyak the best of luck on her artwork submission for the VFW Auxiliary’s Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest. Please view her artwork titled ‘A Growing Family.’ It is Miriam's exquisite and heartfelt tribute to patriotism, family, and honor.
Each year, more than 4,000 high school students from across the country participate. The contest began in 1979 to recognize up-and-coming artists and encourage patriotism in youth. The first-place winner from each state competes for national awards totaling $31,000.
We would also like to give a huge thank you to our local scholarship chairman from the Kyle VFW Auxiliary, Lynn Cook. Lynn has done a tremendous amount of behind the scenes work reaching out to our district schools advocating, encouraging patriotism, and understanding of our Veterans through the VFW art contest. Her support and advocacy has allowed our art students to not only become more connected to the veterans in their families, but given our students a platform to honor our veterans through the visual arts.
Please enjoy Miriam's essay by clicking on her artwork above.

Principal's Message
Dear Hays High School Parents and Students,
As we enter the final stretch of “Home Learning” for the 2019-20 school year, I want to thank you for your support of our school. This has been a trying time with teachers having to learning “Home Learning” on the fly and parents having to become monitors of the digital classroom. Nobody could have predicted this! Our goal at Hays High School is to finish the year strong and make sure our kids have what they need to be successful in the future.
