Principal's Message to Hornet Families for the week of November 1st, 2021

Great evening fantastic families,

We are now in our third week of the new 9 weeks term. We’ve reviewed our scholar data from the 1st 9 weeks and saw some great improvements from last year at this time. We saw 372 scholars earn perfect attendance. That’s 28% of our scholars. Although we are grateful for the 28%, we value a culture of improvement and aim for an increase for the 2nd 9 weeks. We also saw 300 scholars on our A/B Honor Roll and 607 scholars who earned all A’s in all courses. That’s 46% of our campus! We are truly happy with these results, especially post quarantine. Our scholars did well on the AISD SCAs (short cycle assessments) as well. Our 6th graders performed really well, earning the highest average of scholars at the mastery level for math (26%) and English (67%). We look forward to seeing even better performances at the end of the 2nd term.

This upcoming week we have the first day of American Indian Heritage Month (11/1), our second Principal’s Coffee(11/2- am & pm sessions), KMS Magnet Q & A session (11/4 - sign up by clicking this link), KMS basketball vs O’Henry Middle School (11/4), and we have the November service day on Saturday morning (11/6- sign up here) (more information below). Thank you all for choosing Kealing Middle School and Austin ISD, it is our pleasure to provide your scholar with a G.R.E.A.T learning experience.
