Principal Ponderings: Health
Our health is certainly something that we may take for granted while we're healthy, however, we truly recognize the importance of it and the impact it has on our life and those around us when we aren't operating at 100%. While I'm merely dealing with some asthmatic bronchitis, more serious health issues can intersect with us personally or family members. I want to encourage all of us (even stubborn folks like myself) to listen to our bodies and seek answers or assistance if something doesn't seem quite right. As I not so eloquently put it yesterday, being a professional educator IS hard, but when we aren't 100% it is becomes even harder. Take care of you! I'll be back to tomorrow medicated and with inhaler in hand.

What I'm Reading: Toughness, Jay Bilas
I've been waiting to read this for a while now and thanks to Matt for sharing. Jay Bilas is a former Duke Blue Devil basketball player and next to Izzo's Spartans, I root for Coach K and the Blue Devils. A few early takeaways.
1. Successful relationships are built on trust and communication. Sometimes that communication is difficult to hear and one must exercise mental toughness to accept it and improve.
2. Be present and focused on the task at hand. Multi-tasking is a myth and unproductive.
3. Keep your eyes on the prize. Adversity is going to strike us all at one point or another at any moment. Knowing who we are, what we believe in, and where we want to go will assist us in getting through difficult seasons in our life.
4. See picture below. First sentence in a book on toughness mentions gratitude.
