A Message from Mrs. Caudill
I hope everyone enjoyed our unexpected "weekend" in the middle of the week. I spent my two days, reading, playing card games, shoveling, shoveling again, and attempting to build a snowman. The snow days enabled our custodial staff to get some extra cleaning done here at Amerman. I hope you were able to spend some time relaxing and did not have to travel out and about.
I am excited to welcome Alan St. Jean as our Guest Author to help us celebrate Reading Month. I have heard Mr. St. Jean present before and have read several of his books. He is an exciting presenter and has authored several picture books and the Aidan of Oren series for young adults. He offers something for readers of all ages. A huge thank you to the PTA for sponsoring his visit.
Please check out his website www.alanstjean.com to preview his books and learn more about him. If you would like to order one of his books, please print and return the order form below with payment to get an autographed copy of any of his current titles. Money and orders are due MARCH 13th. Please make checks payable to Alan St. Jean.
Warmly,
Devon Caudill

Once again, we’ll be organizing Lucky Grams at Amerman this year. If you are interested in surprising a deserving student with a Lucky Gram, see below.
- First, write a message for each student to whom you’d like to send a Lucky Gram. Include the student name, his or her teacher, who the Lucky Gram is from and a short message. (See next page for forms.)
- Include $0.50 for each Lucky Gram message.
- Send in the money and messages to school in an envelope or Ziploc bag, labeled “Lucky Grams,” by Thursday, March 12th.
This year, students will have an opportunity to purchase Lucky Grams for their classmates and friends during their lunch. More information about this will be on the Amerman Announcements.
On March 17th, Lucky Grams will be delivered, along with a special nonedible treat, to each classroom. Thank you, so much, for helping us with this fundraiser and for your support!

“The Hidden Impact of Screen Time on the Developing Brain”
March 2, 2020
4:15 PM - 5:45 PM, Northville High School, Auditorium
You are invited to join us on Monday, March 2, 2020 to hear Katey McPherson, a well-known educator, speaker and advocate for protecting the health and wellness of our kids, particularly as it relates to the digital landscape of today’s world. This presentation is open to Teachers, Administrators, Parents, and ALL interested Community Members on “The Hidden Impact of Screen Time on the Developing Brain.”
In this presentation, you will learn how neuroscientists, sociologists and psychologists continue to process the incoming data on what is the exact impact of screen time on the developing brain. Katey provides keen insights into the types of screen time as well as how trusted adults and parents can guide and mentor students both at school and at home. She will discuss how we can collectively support the future of America by stepping into the digital divide instead of creating a larger one.
We hope to see you at this powerful learning session!
(Katey McPherson is also our Keynote and Breakout Session speaker at Parent Camp on Saturday, February 29, 2020. Hope you can join us there too!)

March’s Focus: Trustworthy! Habit 6: Synergize!
Every month Amerman Focuses on a new theme and Leader in Me Habit of the Month. The focus for the month of March is Trustworthiness and our Habit of the Month is Habit 6: Synergize.
Synergy means "two heads are better than one." Synergize is the habit of creative cooperation. It is teamwork, open-mindedness, and the adventure of finding new solutions to old problems. But it doesn't just happen on its own. It's a process, and through that process, people bring all their personal experience and expertise to the table. Together, they can produce far better results that they could individually. Synergy lets us discover jointly things we are much less likely to discover by ourselves.
If you would like to recognize your child for displaying trustworthiness or using Habit 6: Synergize at home, please fill out the following Bobcat Boost and return it to your child's teacher.
