Week of August 8th, 2016
First week of practice
- You must have an MHSAA physical ON FILE with the school before you can practice. This means you must have one if you are planning to attend camp as well. Please see additional information about the "try-out" cards below.
- There are only (5) night practices. We usually try to "beat the heat" the best we can with the summer practices that we have. Evening practices will take place in the student parking lot and will be from 7:00 - 8:30 pm. Evening practices will take place on August 10, 11, 12, 22, 23.
- We will have a Parent Meeting on Friday, August 12th at 6:00 pm. We will meet in Room 7 (Coach Lake's room) and be going over season policies as well as XC camp questions.
Try-Out Cards
Before you can participate in practice this year you have to obtain a "try-out" card from the Athletic Office. Mr. Maury will collect your physical card, your athletic fee ($100 for the first sport of the year - OR set up a payment plan with you) and will check your eligibility. You must bring me your "try-out" card before you can participate in practice or camp. The athletic office will be open this week from 8:00 - 3:30 pm. Mr. Maury stated that he would also be available in his office for XC runners on Wednesday before 7:00 pm. Please call (810) 266-5137 and ask to speak with Mr. Maury if you have any questions about the new policy.
XC Camp General Information
Leave: Sunday, August 14th at 9:00 am
Return: Sunday, August 21st approx. 9:00 pm

Activities for the week (in no particular order): Gem mining, Spelunking, hiking in the Smoky Mountains, Drive-in movie theater, Spending the day in Gatlinburg and of course RUNNING twice a day :)
Just a gentle reminder that your remaining balance is past due for camp. Please get your final payments to Coach Lake ASAP.
When packing, don't forget that...
- We do have a washer/dryer so DO NOT pack 14 running outfits – we will be doing laundry during the week
- Sunscreen/aloe vera
- Running Shoes - 2 pairs if possible - it's supposed to rain all week - you will want a dry pair
- Toiletries (shampoo, soap, towel)
- One pair of long sleeve shirt and pants
- Swimsuit
- Water Bottle
- Pillow, blanket or sleeping bag (just for comfort - the house does provide these)
- Money for food during travel on Sunday, August 14th and August 21st. Usually we stop for fast food for lunch and then try to do a Cici's type pizza buffet for the evening meal. All other food and activity costs are included in your camp payments.
