Shark Bites

Informational bites to let you know what's going on!

Hello Shark Families,

Communication was sent out earlier today to clarify Virtual Academy schedule changes. Some of the courses listed in Skyward and Canvas may no longer show "Virtual" beside the course name. This does not changes your student's enrollment in the virtual academy, and does not change them to in-person learning. Updated live conference schedules should be emailed by the homeroom teacher by this evening.

For in-person students with new schedule changes, the changes allow us to better provide social distancing by balancing classes and also allows for capacity for the 2nd 9-weeks when many students are returning in October for in-person learning.

Please let us know if you need anything. Have a great first week of autumn!

Reduced/Free Meals Application- Deadline is near!

The deadline for submitting the Free/Reduced Meal Form is due this week. The form can be filled out here through the website or with a direct submission through Skyward. If a family qualifies for Reduced/Free meals, it will also reduce the amount owed for the annual Tech Fee.

Tech Fees- Due by 9/28/20

All students (Virtual and Face to Face) are required to have annual Tech Fees paid by September of each year. The deadline for Tech Fees is 9/28/20. Fees not paid by this day will result in student accounts being changed to "education only". Information on "education only" is below.

Education-Only Filters

On a student Chromebook, a Securely web-filter is used to restrict access to all resources that are not explicitly approved. Any online material not directly available through one of the approved websites will be blocked for students.

Please note that web searches do not work while on Education Only. Students will need to navigate directly to the approved webpage. All course content built inside Canvas will be available to students. Students will also be able to access material embedded (not linked) into Canvas pages.

How are students placed in Education-Only?

Students are placed in Education-Only for one of two reasons:

  • They have a past-due fee/fine

  • By the explicit request of a parent or principal
