February is Black History Month. The theme for the district is Hallowed Grounds, Sites of African American Memories.

February is National Career and Technical Education Month.

    Morning Announcements - 2F is next

    Please send students to the office for morning announcements no later than 7:50am. If you missed the time, please send students at 9am to the office for announcements. Also, please select a song for African American Heritage Month.

    African American Heritage Month Program

    This year's African American Heritage Month Program will take place February 25, 5-7pm. Please decide who from your teams will attend.

    Power Hour - Kudos and Focus for now until end of school year

    I want to thank you for doing such a awesome job with running centers during 8-9am Power Hour.

    We will be looking for STAAR-related skills in every center (for STAAR teachers). Also, we will be looking for ITBS/Logramos skills in every center (for teachers who test ITBS and/or Logramos).

    Extended Planning and Data Meeting

    All teachers will have an extended planning period of two hours. Here is the breakdown:

    AM - 9:00-11:00am
    PM - 1:30-3:30pm

    No extended planning

    AM - 2nd grade
    PM - No extended planning

    AM - 1st grade
    PM - 4th grade

    AM - Specials
    PM - 3rd grade

    AM - Kindergarten
    PM - 5th grade

    Read Across Russell Week

    February 29 to March 4, we will have our Read Across Russell Week. On Friday, March 4, all classes will be read a Dr. Seuss book. The book will be read either by a volunteer, administration, or you. Please start thinking about your favorite Dr. Seuss book and securing it to be read to your class!

    United Negro College Fund

    The fundraising period for the United Negro College Fund is February 8 to May 31. You are welcomed to give a one-time donation or choose a monthly payroll deduction on Oracle, under Employee Self Service.
