SPCS Connector 2023
January 2023
Note from the Administrators
Happy New Year to all of our SPCS family!
We have successfully completed one half of our 2022-2023 school year and are ready for Second Semester. Spiritually, our students have been learning how to "Love God" through our weekly chapel sessions that focus on our core values. We have learned that the purpose of man is "to glorify God and enjoy Him forever." We have also learned to glorify God with our words and actions. We are very blessed to have the Bible as a resource to guide us in our daily lives. We read the Bible daily in our Bible classes and are learning to live according to God's plan for us.
Our students, staff and parents have also practiced "Loving Others and Serving the World" through service in our church and community. We celebrated our Veterans with an in-person program and made cards that were delivered to a local National Guard Unit. Also in November, our students collected items and each packed a shoe box for Operation Christmas child that will go out to children around the world. We had the privilege to pray over the semi full of boxes. What a joy!
Academically, our students have been working very hard! We have continued our Meijer Accelerated Reader program this year. Our students have already read over 6,000 books! Special thanks to Meijer who sponsors our program and provides prizes for every step of the way and for Chicagos and Redline who provide gift cards for our 100 and 200 point earners. They are great reading partners!
We are very proud of our students and all that they have accomplished this year. This year has brought specific challenges with the the announcement that SPCS will close at the end this school year, but we know that God is good and will provide for all of our needs.
Prayers for a wonderful 2023,
Mrs. Hoffman and Mrs. Thein

FEATURED CLASSES
Music with Mrs. Carrie
Four Day Pre-K with Mrs. Crocker
Welcome to 2023! Our four day pre-k kids have had a great 2022 year and we plan to finish this year even better. During the month of January we will continue our zoophonics with letters n-q. We also will be enjoying crafts this month by making snow globes, snowflakes and bookmarks. This year our class of children have a strong interest in painting, playing with shaving cream, enjoying playdoh and music, and games. We also have a fun treasure box of goodies to encourage sharing, teamwork, and prizes for games. Thank you parents for allowing us the privilege of teaching your children each day.

2022-2023 YEARBOOK
Don’t miss out on capturing your child’s school year memories and order your SPCS Yearbook. Information has been sent home with your child. The cost of the yearbook is $29. To purchase on line with a credit card, you may go to www.yearbookforever.com and enter our school name.
TUITION AND LUNCH RESPONSIBILITY
Tuition: This is a reminder that the SPCS policy is: tuition two months in arrears is reason for dismissal. Any account that is behind will need to be brought current in order for enrollment to continue into the new year.
Lunch: All lunch accounts must be paid with additional money for future lunches to be served. For those students with owed balances, notices have been emailed twice a month alerting parents that a balance is owed. There has to be a positive balance in the lunch account for students to make any purchases.
JANUARY LUNCH MENU
LETTER REGARDING 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR
Dear SPCS Families,
I want to give you an update on the progress of the group that has been looking into continuing our school beyond this year. We have been unable to come up with a short term plan for the 2023-2024 school year. There was talk about staying in the church one more year under new governance, but it was decided that remaining at the church is not a viable option. The reality of it is that there is just not enough time to confidently plan for next school year even if a short term housing/building option were to come to fruition. We cannot, in good conscience, proceed with so many large unknowns, like proper funding, transfer of accreditation, Choice scholarship application status, insurance, etc.
We will be changing gears to provide information for families to enroll in area private schools and help staff as they look for new positions. We have reached out to other non-public principals in our area to do everything we can to assist. We will keep you informed as we hear information. We know that this is hard to hear, and it is hard to have to communicate, but I also know that God can make sense out of our circumstances...even when they are very messy.
A friend sent me an email that was very encouraging to me. She said, “We may not understand why certain things happen but we can trust in God's character that never changes, and He has promised to never leave or forsake us.”
God's Character:
1. God is Loving- "See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God." John 3:1
2. God is Faithful and Righteous-"The LORD is righteous in all His ways and faithful in all he does" Psalm 145:17
3.God is Powerful and Mighty-"Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle" Psalm 24:8
4.God is Sovereign and Just-"The LORD has established His throne in heaven, and His Sovereignty rules over all" Psalm 103:19
5.God is Compassionate and Gracious-"The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love" Psalm 1-03:8
6.God is Good-"Oh taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him." Psalm 34:8
7.God is Holy-"There is none holy like the Lord; there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God" Samuel 2:2
8.God is Forgiving and Merciful-"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" I John 1:9
9.God is our Refuge and Help- "God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble" Psalm 46:1
10.God is with us- "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand " Isaiah 41:10
Continue to trust in God’s character and His promises. He will make a path forward.
Love and Prayers,
Mrs. Hoffman
REGISTRATION INFORMATION FOR AREA PRIVATE SCHOOLS
SPCS CHAPEL
Each Friday, K – 5th Grade students and staff of SPCS meet from 9:00 - 9:30 for a time of fellowship, singing and worship. Our chapel schedule is centered around lessons based on the Fruits of the Spirit. Guest speakers from the church and community visit to share how God has worked in their lives and to impart Biblical wisdom to our students. We also track and celebrate our accelerated reader goals at the end of our chapel time.
WINTER WEATHER INFORMATION
With cold weather now upon us, we ask that children come to school each day with coats, hats, gloves, and other winter wear gear as needed. Children will be going outside for recess whenever the wind chill is 25 degrees and above.
In the event of a school delay or closing, an email will be sent out to all parents, and it will be called in to local television stations. Because we do not utilize buses, we may have school even when township schools have canceled.
If SPCS is closed, classes will have virtual instruction according to the school's continuous learning plan posted on the school's website.
If SPCS posts a weather delay, classes will meet as follows:
Three's Class 10:00 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. PM classes meet at the regular time.
