About Me

The 2015-16 school year is my 11th year of teaching at WFMS. I have been teaching for 21 years and have experience teaching in Allegany County, MD, Prince George's County, MD and now Frederick County. I started in FCPS at Brunswick Middle School as 6th, 7th, & 8th grade science teacher and was head girls soccer coach for five years at Brunswick High. I have a wife who teaches Language Arts at OMS and three boys who keep me busy. I enjoy gardening, fishing, sports, and the outdoors.

Classroom Focused Improvement Process (CFIP) at WFMS

In an effort to help improve vertical articulation at West Frederick Middle School I have collaborated with the data coach and other department members to develop pretests, formative tests, and post test assessments.

The idea was to create a process that could be replicated and modified from year to year to align with Next Generation Science Standards.

Click on the links to have access to activities I have created for 8th grade science.

Term one = Identifying a problem and forming a valid hypothesis

Term two= Organizing, interpreting, and presenting data

Term three = Writing a scientific conclusion

Term Four = Carrying out and designing experiments

Blended Learning

Found out about Google Expeditions through Twitter, applied for the visit and WFMS was selected. I collaborated with our science department, Learning for Life teacher, and ELL teachers to create a student viewing schedule. The opportunity provided students a chance to go on over 150 virtual reality field trips throughout the world and into space.

Science Fair has been alive and well at WFMS for the past 11 years
