Blazer Blessing Giving Drive
Dear Bridge Valley Community,
Every year during the holidays our community has generously supported Bridge Valley families in need. This year our Blazer Blessing Giving drive will be different. We are asking families and staff to donate money into My Payments Plus so that we can purchase gift cards to Walmart, Target, Amazon and food stores.
Our hope is to provide families in need with gift cards so they are able to purchase gifts and food to make their holiday season special.
Please help us bring a smile to members of our Bridge Valley Community during the holidays by donating this year. This is a wonderful way for our students to show encouragement and kindness to others in need. We are requesting donations by December 2nd. Thank you in advance for your continued generosity.

Updated Travel Request Form
Here is the new family travel request form to act as a reminder to families when returning from a state or country on the commonwealth’s travel advisory list: https://www.cbsd.org/cms/lib/PA01916442/Centricity/Domain/386/CB328_familytravel_writable_PDF_Oct%202020.pdf
PLEASE NOTE: Per the guidelines listed in the district’s health and safety plan, students returning from states/countries listed on the commonwealth’s "COVID-19 Information for Travelers" web page may not attend school in-person or participate in school-sponsored activities in person for 14 days from the date on which they return from travel. (Students will participate in classes online during this time period.) School administrators reserve the right to enforce this procedure in the event that students return in-person in violation of this directive.
Social Emotional Learning
We want your child to be successful in school and that means supporting and encouraging their whole development. While excelling in academic classes is important, students also need skills to take on learning challenges, make good decisions, handle strong emotions, and get along with others. This school year, we are instructing Second Step, a research-based social-emotional learning program designed to improve students’ social-emotional skills, such as emotion management, impulse control, problem solving, and empathy. Second Step skills and concepts are designed to help students both in and out of school. These include:
1. Skills for Learning: Students gain skills to help themselves learn, including how to focus their attention, listen carefully, use self-talk to stay on task, and be assertive when asking for help with schoolwork.
2. Empathy: Students learn to identify and understand their own and others’ feelings. Students also learn how to take another’s perspective and how to show compassion.
3. Emotion Management: Students learn specific skills for calming down when experiencing strong feelings, such as anxiety or anger.
4. Problem Solving: Students learn a process for solving problems with others in a positive way.
Thank you for your support as we work to build a safe and supportive school community.
