New Phone Numbers
Phone numbers at Otsego Public Schools have changed! Don't worry, the old numbers still work, but we'd like to start transitioning to the updated information so we want to let you know now. This change was made over the summer to better communicate with 911 in the event of an emergency. Again, the old numbers will still work for the time being, however, we will soon be listing our new phone numbers on all of our communications, including newsletters, website and the district app. Please take note of the new numbers for this building and update your contacts. Thank you.

Teaching Your Children Compassion
Compassion means showing others you understand how they’re feeling when they’re having a problem. It also means being kind and caring to others in need. The holiday season provides many opportunities to teach our children compassion. Compassionate people are helpful, caring, attentive to others, and understanding of others’ needs.
Adults should model how to show compassion. Do you have an elderly neighbor who is lonely and would love to have a visitor for an hour? Teach your child how to visit and appreciate the wisdom that senior citizens have to share with us. Do you know a coworker who is experiencing hard times? Talk to your child about what you are doing to help them out in a small way. When your child is upset about a conflict they are having with a friend, do you show compassion by understanding how “big” the problem really is to them? Show your child you care by truly listening and then helping them to find a solution that works best for them.
Children can show compassion at home when they help with household chores after their parent has had a hard day. If a sibling is upset about something, listening and saying kind words is being compassionate. At school, children can show compassion when they listen to a friend’s feelings about a problem, when they help another student who is having difficulty with something, or when they recognize a classmate for their special talents. In our community, children can show compassion by donating clothing they’ve outgrown, giving to others who are less fortunate, and showing kindness without expecting any rewards.
When children feel compassion and express it through kindness, they make themselves better people and the world a better place.
