Objective- Our objective was to fly supplies to Tacloban, Philippines after Typhoon Haiyan.

Our Team Goal- The goal of our relief mission is to help the people and society in the Philippines.

Accomplishments

Manifest of what we Delivered-

We delivered 3,492 Cubic feet of materials

We delivered a total of 28,450 pounds of materials

And we delivered-

  • 27 Medical Supplies
  • 1 Portable Hospital (Sent in three parts)
  • 5 Food Packages
  • 4 Clothing and Blankets
  • 2 Mosquito Supplies
  • 3 Refrigerated Medical Chests
  • 1 box of Miscellaneous Supplies
  • And 5 Packages of Water

Time it took to Deliver Supplies-

It took our team 32 Hours and 7 minutes to take the Supplies form Houston Hobby Airport in Houston, TX, to Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport, in Tacloban, Philippines.

Our Teams Accomplishments-

Our team did not have any major accomplishments such as shortest flight times and most packaged, but we did find a way to get as much supplies as we could to the Philippines, in the shortest time we could. And, yes, we did complete our goal.

The three supplies that most directly affected our goal was the medical supplies, water, and food. We felt that that would most help the people recover after the Typhoon.

This is our flight plan around the Earth

These are pictures of how we packed the Crates we sent.

Timeline

When we first started (May 4th) we got our groups together. We created a folder on google drive so that we could all share our documents. We then (May 5th) took research over the Climate, food, government history, and other topics over the Philippines, which is where we are taking our help. We continued to prepare another presentation (May 7th) over the diseases that may affect the areas impacted by the Typhoon. On May 12th we created a list of our goals, and the materials that we want to send. Then (May 15th) our class went to Mrs. Adams room to learn about google earth. Using this information we took a quiz over the things on google earth, and planned a flight so that we could get to the Philippines in the fastest time (May 15th-19th). We then created packed our materials onto a pallet of a C-130 Hercules, which is the plane we are flying. Now we are making this reflection sheet for our final.

Reflection

The things that we learned was be organized and never lose papers. Pay attention while instructions are being given. Correctly use google Earth. One misconception was how long 1438 miles were and how long we could go. We also underestimated the number of diseases and how much weight and space we had. One strategy that did work was looking for airports in a specific area and measuring the distance. One strategy that didn't work was laying the portable hospital flat. And not going to Juneau did not work.

Purpose

Our purpose was to send supplies using airplanes to the Philippines after the devastating hurricane struck, destroying everything. After this event and after we sent supplies we accomplished many things. Some of those accomplishments were sending supplies to Tacloban and reinforcing their city with a bunch full of supplies and resources.
