Hail Mary, Full of Grace,

The Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Message form the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers

I am advising that due to the WA Government’s extension of Stage 4 restrictions, the

social distancing requirements are still in place until Oct 24. As a result there will be some disruption to school activities for the remainder of this term and the start of next term.

The school Open Night, Fathers' Day Breakfast and Grandparents Day have now been cancelled as we cannot meet social distancing protocols.

Parents will be able to attend the Athletics Carnival, however, there will be protocols that families will be required to follow:

  1. Parents and Carers are required to social distance one person per 2sqm. Families will be limited to ONE family member attending for the duration of the carnival or sharing the time between family members so that only one family member is in attendance at the carnival at any one time.
  2. Parents and Carers will not be able to access the top playground or the oval and will be limited to the limestone walls.
  3. Access to the limestone walls will be via the entry near the Church.
  4. At the conclusion of the carnival students in their classes will be located at various positions around the oval and those families who wish to collect their children may do so. Any remaining students will be taken back to classrooms to be dismissed as per a normal school day.
  5. There will be no Kiss and Drive on this day.

I am also advising families that as of this year the School Board will be changing and from next year the Board will become the St Columba’s Catholic School Advisory Council. Their role within the school will change and they will not be involved in the day to day running of the school including financial decisions made by the school. This will be taken on by the school Principal and The Catholic Education Office WA. This has been brought about by Catholic Education Commission WA (CECWA) becoming incorporated and having their own Board to oversee Catholic Education WA.

God Bless and stay safe.

Year 4 inspired by Isatou Ceesay's recycling movement

In class we read an inspiring true story of how one African woman began a movement to recycle the plastic bags that were polluting her community. We used inspiration from Isatou Ceesay's recycled plastic bags to design our own Bag with environmental slogans and images.

Next Assembly - Friday 11 September

Merit award winners will be published closer to the assembly date.

Competition prize winners will be given out on Monday. Thank you to all the entrants for your creativity.

Parish News - seeking presenters for Children's Liturgy

Seeking new Presenters for the Children’s Liturgy during 9.30am Masses at St. Columba’s, except during school holidays. During COVID-19 restrictions, this offering for Pre-Kindy children to Year 3 at the beginning of 9.30am Sunday was suspended. In order to revive it for children, the parish needs volunteer parents, especially mothers to go on a roster. Please sign the list at the Church entrances.
