Book Reviews in Destiny
From now until May, we are working on student book reviews. For each book that you read and review, you are allowed to choose a new book to add to your school library. For every 50 books reviewed by your school, money is available to purchase makerspace materials for your school library. This is a great opportunity for students to have a voice in what books get added to the library. See your school librarian to add a review to the Destiny catalogue.
Book reviews should include:
- the author and title of the book
- a rating based on 5 stars
- a brief synopsis giving just enough information to pique a student’s curiosity and interest them in reading the book, but not enough information to spoil the story.

My Life as a Zucchini
"After his mother’s sudden death, Zucchini is befriended by a police officer, Raymond, who accompanies him to his new foster home, filled with other orphans his age. At first he struggles to find his place in this at times strange and hostile environment. But with Raymond’s help and his newfound friends, Zucchini eventually learns to trust and love, as he searches for a new family of his own. "
The Fits
"The Fits is a psychological portrait of 11-year-old Toni—a tomboy assimilating to a tight-knit dance team in Cincinnati’s West End. Enamored by the power and confidence of this strong community of girls, Toni eagerly absorbs routines, masters drills, and even pierces her own ears to fit in. When a mysterious outbreak of fainting spells plagues the team, Toni’s desire for acceptance is twisted."
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks
"The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks tells the story of Henrietta Lacks (Renée Elise Goldsberry), an African-American woman whose cells were used to create the first immortal human cell line."
