Weekly Newsletter
This week, I am excited to shine the spotlight on our two groundsmen, Rick Hayward and Kirk Velasco.
Rick and Kirk continue to do an amazing job at keeping El Camino grounds landscaped beautifully! ECHS is the largest campus in the Oceanside school district and they work tirelessly every day to keep our school site looking amazing! As the photo shows, these guys also like to keep us laughing. Thank you, Kirk and Rick!

Annual Title 1 Parent Meeting - Thursday, September 23 @ 5:30 pm
PSAT Day - October 13, 2021
News for the Week...
- Tik Tok Challenge = Damage to EC Campus: We need to make you aware of a growing and upsetting trend going on at our OUSD middle and high schools involving vandalizing bathrooms and stealing items from our teachers. This is all part of a trend on Tik Tok known as "Devious Lick" (a term which means to steal something). What is has meant for our district over the past week is: bathrooms destroyed, soap dispensers taken off the walls, toilets damaged, and much more. Our custodians work hard every day to keep our buildings clean and safe, especially now with COVID-19. Instead of being able to focus on their normal duties, their efforts are now turned to unnecessary destruction with costly repairs. We need your help! We ask that you talk to your student about the consequences of causing vandalism on our campus. Thank you and we appreciate your assistance in preserving our beautiful campus!
- Lunchtime Fast Food Delivery Concerns: Parents, we have seen a huge increase in the number of students ordering food for delivery to ECHS during lunch. Please know that we do not have the manpower or capacity to monitor the deliveries and cannot guarantee that your child will receive their food. Monitoring the deliveries is not a part of the job for our security as they are working to keep our campus safe. Therefore, we do NOT recommend students have food delivered to campus.
- Alternative Household Income Form: This message is a friendly reminder that the Alternative Household Income Form is available online at https://alternativehouseholdincomeform.oside.us. You may have already filled this information out when completing data confirmation during registration. The Alternative Household Income Form must be filled out annually. If you have not already done so, please complete an Alternative Household Income Form. In high school, this information may also qualify students for reduced charges for tests such as Advanced Placement (AP) Exams as well as the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).
- FREE Covid-19 Testing: As a reminder, OUSD provides free Covid-19 testing for our scholars, families and community members. El Camino is one of those testing sites where testing is available from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm on Mondays and Thursdays. You can register online and schedule your appointment by using the following link: https://oside.testscheduler.net/register. You will have secure access to your results within 24-48 hours when you register using that link. Please note a couple of updates regarding Covid test results: (1) School sites do not have access to test results. When you register using your cell number, a text will be sent to you so you have access to your results and (2) Rapid Testing or home test kit results are no longer accepted forms of negative Covid tests.
