Thank you to all of those families who participated in person and virtually for parent teacher conferences. It was great to visit with so many and to see the hallways come alive with students, parents and even fans stopping by to cheer on our 8th boys basketball team. All great signs of normalcy continuing to return.
Most importantly, on this Veterans Day I want to thank all of those parents who are veterans or who are currently serving in the military. Your service, sacrifice and dedication are an amazing example and gift to all of us. There are simply no words to express our nation's gratitude for your service.
Enjoy your weekend!

Guidance would like thank staff, students and families for your support in our food drive! All food donated will remain at Gentry Middle School to support families in our community.
Sixth grade blew us away with their kindness and generosity. They collectively brought in over 150 items. Eight grade increased their giving each day for a total of 108. Seventh grade supported our cause by bringing in 95 items.
We are so proud of our Jaguars! Keep spreading the kindness in all you do!

Free COVID-19 Vaccine To Be Offered at Gentry- December 3
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands of children in Boone County ages 5-17 have become sick with the virus that causes COVID-19, some even requiring hospitalization. Getting your child vaccinated against COVID-19 is the best way to protect them from this potentially serious virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommends that all people 5 years and older get a COVID-19 vaccine.
Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services is offering the free COVID-19 vaccine at Boone County schools. The COVID-19 vaccine will be available for all children in kindergarten through 12th grade. Our vaccine clinic will be held at Gentry on Friday, December 3. If you decide not to vaccinate, or if you do not return the required permission form (link below) to the school, the free COVID-19 vaccine will NOT be given to your child at school. The opportunity to get your child vaccinated is encouraged but not mandatory. This vaccine is free.
If you have questions about the vaccine clinic, please contact the GMS school nurse (Jennifer Ferguson at 214-3246). If you have specific questions about the COVID-19 vaccine you may reach Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services at covidvaccine@como.gov. Children who do not get the vaccine at school may receive free COVID-19 vaccines at one of the many vaccinators in Boone County found at www.como.gov/covidvaccine.
Sincerely,
Stephanie K. Browning, Director
Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services
Gentry Read-a-Thon
Gentry Middle School has decided to hold a Read-a-thon this year! Read-a-thons actually get your reader excited about reading and it gives friends and family the opportunity to encourage your child to read even more. Our Read-a-thon starts Monday November 22, 2021.
About one week before our Read-a-thon starts we will send home instructions on how to activate your reader's personal page. This is where you will be able to view and record their progress.
We've chosen Read-a-thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read and helps in the development of stronger reading skills. We hope EVERYONE participates.
