Franklin Academy Pembroke Pines

Principal Update | August 10, 2021

student placement and class schedules

Greetings Franklin Families!

I hope you are enjoying the last few days of summer and gearing up to return to our beloved campus on Wednesday, August 18th. As we prepare to launch the new school year, I want to take this opportunity to communicate important information regarding the school’s process for student placement.

A great deal of time, effort, and thoughtful consideration was devoted to placing students in their respective classes for the upcoming year. The process is a comprehensive and collaborative effort between the instructional faculty and the school leadership team. While our school policy does not allow for individual teacher requests, careful consideration was given to input from faculty and school specialists.

Each class list has been balanced, both academically and socially, and is structured to provide equitable class sizes at each grade level. Moving students is difficult without causing imbalances and inequities and therefore requests for teacher changes will not be considered. Additionally, any course information and/or student placement that may currently be reflected in PowerSchool is subject to change.

I thank you in advance for being positive with your child and helping him or her understand that it is impossible to place all students with a preferred best friend or teacher. All of our staff members work hard to make school a positive experience for all students. Thank you for understanding that it can take a few weeks for a child to acclimate to a new grade, peer group, and teacher.

Your commitment to ensuring that Franklin Academy remains a safe and successful school is awe-inspiring. I eagerly look forward to greeting students and families on August 18th. It remains an honor and privilege to serve as your principal. Together, I know we will make this school year one of growth and achievement for all children!

Sincerely,

Elena Diaz, M.Ed.

Meet & Greet Sessions

Meet & Greet sessions for parents and students will begin on Friday, August 13th. In addition to meeting your child's teacher and getting a sneak peek of your child's classroom, this is a perfect opportunity to bring labeled school supplies. If you purchased pre-packaged supplies, they will be readily available for you in your child's classroom - you may want to bring labels!
