Welcome, Mr. Pellman
At its meeting on Monday, November 21, 2022, the Board of School Directors took action on an administrative recommendation to appoint Mr. Chad Pellman as our new Director of Special Education. He replaces Ms. Gaynelle Angelo, who retired earlier in the school year.
Mr. Pellman comes to CV from the Capital Area Intermediate Unit, where he has served as the Program Supervisor for three years. In this role, he oversaw all facets of a host of programs and staff, including: autism support classrooms; multiple disability support classrooms; extended school year; school health; education and behavior consultants; and direct education teachers.
He previously served as a Special Education Supervisor with Hempfield School District, Learning Support Teacher/Special Education Liaison and Therapeutic Autistic Support Teacher at Lower Dauphin, and a Classroom Coordinator and Special Education Teacher at the Vista School in Hershey.
“We are excited to have Mr. Pellman joining our CV team. I know his leadership experience in many different facets of special education administration will make him an immediate asset to our students, staff, and families.”
Mr. Pellman currently holds a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Shippensburg University and Bachelor’s in Psychology Clinical/Counseling from Kutztown University, in addition to Principal PK-12, Supervisor of Special Education PK-12, and Instructional II PK-12 certifications.
It is anticipated that Mr. Pellman will begin his transition to CV in early January.

Calendar Change - CV9 ONLY
CALENDAR CHANGE: The Board of School Directors last evening approved an administrative recommendation to alter the 2022-2023 school calendar for CV9 students only. The change – in response to using the school building as a polling place – is as follows:
May 16, 2023* - Modified Virtual Schedule (CV9 Only)
More information will follow regarding expectations for the day. Again, this change to a modified virtual day is for CV9 students ONLY as that building is designated by Cumberland County as a polling place. All other buildings will report in-person as originally scheduled.
*Should the date of the 2023 municipal election change, the modified virtual date for CV9 will also be changed.
Congratulations to four Cumberland Valley High School seniors – Ragy Ebeid, Vikram Kakaria, Simran Kulkarni, and Shivani Venkatesh – who have been named as Coca-Cola Scholars national semifinalists. Only 1,557 semifinalists were chosen among 91,000+ applicants this year because of their outstanding leadership, academic achievements, and dedication to their community.
The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation semifinalists are competing for 150 college scholarships worth $20,000 each.

Portrait of an Eagle: Classroom Spotlight
Mountain View Middle School's Student Council recently hosted a building-wide food drive. Together, students and staff collected an AMAZING 13,107 items plus monetary donations. The mission of the food drive is to collect food items for Mountain View students and families in need so that they will have a complete Thanksgiving meal. As a result of the generous donations, students/staff were able to provide 50 families each with three boxes of food for a complete Thanksgiving meal plus a grocery gift card to use for their turkey. Our students displayed empathy throughout this beautiful event and demonstrated that they each, in their own creative way, are a Portrait of an Eagle! #CVproud
