State Football - Pep Bus Information
We are extremely excited to have the opportunity to compete for a 6A State Championship on Saturday, November 26 at 1:00 as the Blazer football team takes on the Manhattan Indians. In order to provide an opportunity for as many students as possible to experience the game and support their classmates, we will be offering a limited amount of available seats on Pep Busses to the game. If your high school student is interested in travelling to the game on a Pep Bus, please note the following information:
Cost:
It costs $5 (cash only) to ride the Pep Bus.
Sign-Up Form:
Click on this link to fill out a required Google Form to secure your spot on a bus. The pep bus is for high school students only and spots are limited. Only USD 231 emails can sign-up using the form, so the high school student must be the one to submit the form.
Once there are no more spots remaining I will shut down the Sign Up Google Form.
Permission Slip:
A permission slip must be signed by a parent/guardian in order to ride the bus. The signed form must be presented to a faculty supervisor prior to being allowed on the bus.
Travel Information:
The bus will leave from the front of GEHS at 10:30am on Saturday, November 26. It is scheduled to arrive at the stadium in Emporia between 12 and 12:15. The estimated time to arrive back at GEHS that evening is 5:30pm.
Rules:
In order to get on the bus, students must do the following:
Filled out the Sign-Up Google Form in advance
Pay $5 cash and turn in their signed Permission Slip
Show that they either have an additional $10 cash (to pay for the game ticket in Emporia) or show that they have already purchased a ticket digitally in advance through GoFan
Students must ride the Pep Bus both there and back
Students are expected to sit in the designated Student section for the game
Students must follow all instructions of school officials and of the venue. Failing to follow those instructions could result in parent/guardian being called to pick up the student from the stadium in Emporia!
We hope to see as many Blazer fans in Emporia on Saturday as possible! Please contact Athletic Director Scott Peavey (peaveys@usd231.com) with questions.

Blazer Football
Friday night the Blazers were at home once again for the opportunity to fend off the Olathe Northwest Ravens for a chance to compete for the school's first 6A State football appearance.
The offense got started off fast on Friday behind a great mix of power and option attacking the Ravens defense! Before we knew it the Blazers were up 21-0 with the aid of a fumble recovery on a kickoff after a touchdown. From there, not much changed as the Blazer offense could do no wrong and had any play they wanted! The night was littered with big plays by several players on this side of the ball with Dawson Kindler rumbling for 4tds and over 120yds, and Connor Elder throwing for two more Touchdowns on a chilly evening. Bravin Powell and Austin Buie were on the receiving ends of those touchdowns each for some big gains! Dylan Butash added another 100yds and a touchdown on the night.
Now, the defense was equally as good only allowing 1 touchdown all night by a ONW offense that scored over 30 in the previous two playoff games! The defensive line play was amazing all night stopping the rushing attack of the ravens. The Blazer front 7 only allowed 38 yards of rushing all night to some all-league talent the Ravens had! This domination combined with the Offensive success forced the Raven offense to throw the ball quite a bit, which allowed us to grab some interceptions as well! Eli Porter grabbed 2 picks on the night further reinforcing the stingy nature of our defense as a whole! Final Score: Blazers (9-3) 56, Olathe Northwest Ravens (8-4) 7
Next Matchup:Saturday (11/26) @ 1PM, GEHS(9-3) vs Manhattan High(12-0) at Francis G. Welch Stadium @ Emporia State University.
Blazer Debate
The GEHS Debate team was in action two hours away at Rock Creek this past weekend. Three teams made the trip out there. David Torres and Brinley Enz had some of the toughest competition ending the day at 2 wins 3 loses. Ellie Parks and Maddison Carriger ended with 3 wins and 2 loses. The big story is that the novice team of Kate Sanders and Alyx Greene would make some noise in the Open division. The tournament added all Novice to Open but still tracked Novice scores. The team would end with 3 wins and 2 loses which would give them first place for the Novice, and also good enough for sixth in Open division. This was also enough to qualify Kate Sanders for State. All three teams would acquire enough points to bring home the third place plaque in sweepstakes. With one more tournament on December 3rd, many students will be fighting for their place at State.
