GRADUATION 2019
Jasmina BORKOVIC Y07 Certificate of Academic Excellence
Evie HENSTOCK Y07 Certificate of Academic Excellence
Kasey NICHOLAS Y07 Certificate of Academic Excellence
Cassandra PERKINS Y07 Certificate of Academic Excellence
Amon ROSS Y07 Certificate of Academic Excellence
Thank you to all involved with our Graduation evening. The evening continues to evolve and this year I was so thrilled with the special graduation liturgy that conferred our students as Prendivillians. The following is a snapshot of my address to the students:
"Good evening and welcome to this special graduation ceremony. I am sure you will agree with me that our graduands are looking splendid. I am proud to address you, our graduands, this evening. We recognise the fine young men and women you have become.
As I was considering my advice for you this week and reflecting on the ongoing theme of this cohort through the year – wanting the best for each other – I could not go past the incredible achievement of Eliud Kipchoge in completing the marathon in just less than two hours. This was not something I would have ever contemplated seeing in my lifetime but, yet again, as I continue to discover, the possibilities that can be achieved by humans are not limited by our belief.
Eliud has been very clear that it was a committed team of people who enabled him to enter the record books – people who wanted the best for him. Clearly he had wonderful self belief, he knew he was capable of this stunning athletic accomplishment but the conditions needed to be right and he needed the team around him to play their part.
As his coach, Patrick Sang said, following his second attempt to set the record “I am happy for him and what he has achieved. He has inspired all of us that we can stretch our limits and that we can do more than we think we can do.”
I want to acknowledge that each one of our graduands is also unlimited - at this particular point in time, not one can definitely say what they will be up to this time next year so seize the myriad of opportunities awaiting you.
Before us every graduand, just like Eliud, has a team around them desiring them to succeed and achieve their version of excellence - parents, families, friends, the Prendiville community and each other. I am sure Graduands, you would like me to salute and thank each member of your team for supporting you through the extensive journey (dare I say marathon) of formal schooling.
Thank you to your families, staff and friends for the love, support and encouragement they have shown you. I also acknowledge Mrs Del Sharrett, your Head of Year. Her support for you all and your respect for her has been most evident and inspiring to see." (Excerpt from Principal's Graduation Address 2019).

COLLEGE FAMILY FEE ACCOUNTS
The College Board developed a flexible solution for families to meet their child’s education costs by spreading the payments throughout the year. Unless arrangements have been made with the Finance Office, College fee accounts must be finalised by 31 October 2019. The College has an obligation to meet their costs and requires parents to honour their commitments to payment of their fee accounts.
As per the College Board Policy, outstanding accounts with no arrangements in place, may reluctantly be sent to the College Solicitor. This course of action may incur additional fees and charges that are payable by the family. I urge any family that are currently experiencing genuine financial stress and are unable to meet their commitment to contact the College Finance Officer Mrs Naomi Agosta on 9301 6242 to arrange an appointment.

YEAR 11 WRITTEN EXAMINATIONS
Year 11 written examinations commence on Tuesday 5 November. A copy of both the Master Timetable and the Examination rules are available on Seqta.
As a general rule, students are only required to attend school when they have a scheduled exam. The exception to this is those VET students who have not met all Units of Competence. These students will be required to attend school unless the parents have been informed otherwise by their child’s VET teacher.
Full College uniform and grooming standards apply to all students whilst on College grounds during the exam period.
If a student is absent due to illness a Medical Certificate will be required. Parents also need to contact Ms Leck on 9301 6293 on the morning of the exam. Please leave a message if unattended. Students will be required to sit the exam once they are well enough to do so.

YEAR 7 HOMEWORK HELP
Throughout the year, a number of our Year 11 students have given up their time after school on Monday afternoons to support Year 7 students with their homework and organisation. As Week 3 of this term is the last week for students in Year 11 before exams, it will also be the last week for Homework Help. Students are still free to use the College library after school, but they will not have the assistance of the older students.
I would like to thank all of those older students who generously supported their younger peers and wish them all the best with their exams.

WHEELCHAIRS FOR KIDS
On their final week of classes, three of our Year 12 Councillors took time out of their busy schedules to visit and deliver ring pulls collected on Prendiville Day to this fantastic voluntary organisation. The ring pulls are used to help make wheelchairs for children in need all over the world. Prendiville Volleyball
WA Volleyball Schools Cup - Junior
The Year 9 and 10 Volleyball students from Prendiville competed in the WA Volleyball Schools Cup at the end of Term 3. The Year 9 girls went through the round robin stages undefeated but were, unfortunately, unable to field a team in the finals. Congratulations though to the Year 10 boys who won a closely fought contest against Perth Modern to take out the gold medal in the Year 10 A Division. This was a fantastic match between two highly skilled teams that ebbed and flowed throughout. Well done to Kane Bevan who was awarded the MVP for the grand final.
Year 9, 10 & 11 Volleyball Training
Training for these year groups will be held each Friday morning throughout this term. This is both in preparation for the CAS season in 2020 and to allow new students the opportunity to learn to play Volleyball. This is open to all students in these year groups, no matter the experience. Training runs from 7am until 8.15am.
Year 7 & 8 Volleyball Training
Year 7 & 8 training will continue throughout Term 4 on Thursdays from 3.30-4.30pm in the school gym. This is open to all students in these year groups with training sessions focusing on both skill development and enjoying the sport. This is also in preparation for many of the tournaments that run throughout 2020 including CAS Volleyball in Term 1.
Singapore Soccer Tour 2020
The Singapore Soccer Tour 2020 teams have been training all year in preparation for April next year as they embark on what will be an amazing experience. We have 17 boys and 18 girls from Years 8 - 11 that will be testing their themselves against local teams and clubs whilst in Singapore.
For the next couple of weeks, the teams will be trained by three specialist coaches. The boys will have Cameron Edwards who comes with a pretty impressive CV, playing professionally for Reading FC, Melbourne Heart, Nike Academy and Perth Glory. Most impressively, he also represented Australia at U17, U20, and U23 levels.
The girls are equally lucky to have Gavin Sit who is the Head of Coach of the NTC U19 Girls team. He has had plenty of experience coaching girls at the highest level and Conrad McKelvie who is Head Coach of the Northern Redbacks Women’s team who won the Women’s State League this year. He was named Women’s Coach of the Year and comes with a wealth of knowledge.
The students are very lucky to have these experts come in and work with the them and hopefully help them bring their game to the next level.

Renea Mayer
Sports Coordinator
Over the last couple of years, the PE Department and The Hub have struck up a valuable partnership with Perth Cricket Academy, run by Paolo Franzoni. He runs cricket clinics and training pretty much all year round at Prendiville. It has been a relationship that we have really valued with the support that he offers us with our CAS Cricket programme.
In addition, as a gift to the College, Paolo has set up a new astroturf cricket pitch which looks most impressive. He has done this as a good will gesture to the College for the friendship that we have developed.
Thank you Paolo.
YEAR 10 AND 11 ITALIAN EXCURSION
On Tuesday 15 October, the Year 10 and 11 Italian classes attended the annual excursion to the Lavazza Italian Film Festival at Cinema Paradiso in Northbridge. Students had the chance to watch a contemporary Italian film and discovered what the Italian cultural scene has to offer nowadays to the world. They also learned new expressions that make part of modern Italian language from an authentic and modern resource such as a recently released motion picture.
