Principal Message
Dear Henry Families,
This week marks a fun event for students to showcase their talents. You should have received information from Mrs. Plesia about the Talent Shows that are occurring during music class this week. Please click on the button below if you need access to days and times for your child's talent show.
Also, further in this newsletter is some important health information for you to review. We have several different illnesses making it around the community. Please be aware of the symptoms and remind your children the importance of handwashing, proper nose blowing and coughing techniques.
Here's to a great week!
Sincerely,
Dr. Jodi Oliver
Principal

Quick Updates
- Please know we have started sending attendance letters again this year. This is a way for school and family to be on the same page with attendance. If you happen to get a letter please know this is just for your awareness. If you have questions about attendance please reach out to Dr. Kneer.
- Dressing for the weather... While the warmth was wonderful for so long and we enjoyed it immensely, we knew it would not last. Please make sure that your child is dressed to go outside for recess each day. Just a reminder that if the temperature and windchill is 20 or above, we will be going outside during recess. This would also be a great time to make sure that names are clearly marked on coats and other outerwear.
Illness and Health Information
This year our community is being hit with a trifecta of germs. Influenza A, RSV and COVID are all circulating, as well as other cold viruses. Henry Elementary is not immune from these viruses. While we are trying to encourage healthy behaviors and provide extra sanitization to classrooms that are being hit especially hard, we need your help. To help minimize the spread of illness, children should stay home if experiencing one or more of the following:
- For a fever of equal or greater than 100.4. If a child has a fever they must stay home until they have been fever free for 24 hours without taking medication to reduce their fever
- Vomiting. If a child vomits, they should stay home for 24 hours after the last episode
- Diarrhea. If a student has more than one episode of diarrhea, they need to stay home until symptoms have resolved for 24 hours.
- Persistent coughs or significant nasal congestion. Even if your child doesn't have a fever, if they are feeling unwell, it is hard for them to learn and they can spread germs to others.
Additionally, if you have not done so, consider getting your flu and COVID vaccinations. These can limit the severity of illness and help to decrease the spread of illnesses. Good handwashing, respiratory etiquette, plenty of sleep and a healthy diet can all also help limit the impact of colds and flu.
See graphic below for more information about the symptoms of different illnesses.
