“18 UNDER 18” RECOGNITION
CHS Senior Aryan Mathur is a 2021 Junior Achievement “18 Under 18” recipient. The 2021 Junior Achievement of Arizona 18 Under 18 recognizes 18 teen leaders from across the state who have shown how to adapt, focus and stay dedicated to a life of purpose. They are selfless and committed to using their knowledge and prowess to better their community and the world. Check out Aryan’s story here. Aryan will attend UC-Berkely to study engineering.
KELLY NAMED TO ALL-AZ BASKETBALL TEAM
Congratulations to Carson Kelly, CHS Senior, for being named to the Arizona Republic’s All-Arizona boys basketball team. Carson is also an Arizona Player of the Year finalist.
DANCE CONCERT
Last week’s Modazz Spring Concert highlighted the talents of Chandler High’s student choreographers and dancers. Improv, Advanced, and Modazz performed 15 terrific numbers to a variety of songs from Panic! At the Disco, Ariana Grande, Billie Eillish, and more. The dancers are directed by Mrs. Tiffany White. THE LITTLE MERMAID
What a show! Congratulations to the cast, crew, and directors of Chandler High’s musical “The Little Mermaid.” The show, based on the Hans Christian Andersen story and Disney film, starred Reagan Plank, Bennett Smith, Charlize Cornejo, Andrew Matcuk, Joshua Ransford, Claire Willes, Katie Stone, and other talented ensemble performers. Kudos to Ms. Stephanie Likes, Director, Katie Kolacki, Assistant Director, Wendy Umbrianna, Music Director, Ms. Tiffany White, Choreographer, and Ms. Anaiis Hurtado, Choreographer, for a terrific production! STUDENT SENATE MEETING
Classroom representatives met with Student Council last Thursday to propose and discuss end-of-year, as well as 2021-2022 school year, events. Students shared great ideas, and StuCo looks forward to planning spirit weeks and activities based on student input.
AzSCI Field Test for Juniors
Tuesday April 27 will be AzSCI Field Test for Juniors! Testing is on computers, so if you would like to take advantage of the listening option, you must bring a NON-Blue Tooth listening device like earbuds that can plug into a computer. Testing starts at 7:25 am and your bus comes at the normal time in the morning. For everyone else, your bus comes 3 hours after the normal time and school starts at 10:25. You will be arriving AFTER lunch.

Applications for the Governor’s Youth Commission (GYC) are open. It is a competitive application process and open to 2021-2022 sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Applications are currently being accepted until May 7, 2021 at 5:00pm. Interested students are encouraged to apply now!

CAPS, GOWNS & STOLE DISTRIBUTION – Thursday, May 6th
We are happy to announce that caps, gowns and NHS stoles will be distributed to seniors during school hours in the Payne Gym on May 6th. If you have not yet purchased your cap and gown, Jostens has allowed us one more opportunity to purchase it BEFORE APRIL 15th. Please contact them at 1-800-JOSTENS or by visiting their Web site at www.jostens.com. For qualifying NHS honors students, stoles can now be purchased in the bookstore until April 30th at a cost of $35.00.

Updated GRADUATION CEREMONY INFORMATION
We are very pleased to inform you that the District Office has informed us that we are now allowed to invite FOUR guests/senior to attend the graduation ceremony.
FOUR latex free wrist bands will be issued to seniors to distribute to their guests. The latex free wrist bands MUST be worn to obtain access to the Austin Field bleachers and will be strictly enforced.

What college or university will you be attending?
All Final Transcripts will be sent electronically through Parchment. To guarantee your final transcript will be sent to the college of your choice, you must set up your account and place your transcript “On Hold for the Next Grading Period”. For information on how to sign up see Ms. Milczarek in the Career Center or Mrs. Graffeo or Mrs. Ferguson in the Registrar’s office. After graduation you will be charged $8.50 per transcript.
Graduation: May 27th. 8pm on Austin field. If you are not planning to walk with the class of 2021 you must let Mrs. Graffeo or Mrs. Ferguson in the Registrar’s office know as soon as possible.

C-GCC SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY
High-achieving, recent high school students have the opportunity for a deeply enriching college experience in the Chandler-Gilbert Community College Honors Program. In addition, if you’re graduating high school with an unweighted GPA of at least 3.25, you can take advantage of the Presidents’ Honors Scholarship below. The scholarship pays for full-time tuition for up to 15 credit hours (plus the $15 registration fee) per semester for up to four consecutive semesters.
To be eligible for the Presidents’ Honors Scholarship, you must:
· Graduate from a high school in Maricopa County
· Have a cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 3.25 or higher
· Start at CGCC within one year of high school graduation without attending another college in between (not including concurrent enrollment, dual enrollment, and summer session)
· Reside in Maricopa County while on scholarship

Ms. Gomez-Garcia will be available in the Career Center to help eligible seniors apply to Chandler-Gilbert Community College and the scholarship (Application Workshops) every Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:30-3:15 p.m. in the Career Center. Students must have a Maricopa student account before they can apply for the scholarship.
Project Unify Fundraiser
The Project Unify Booster Club is raising money for CHS Project Unify.
Project Unify promotes programs that build meaningful relationships and inclusive environments between students with intellectual disabilities and their non-disabled peers on campus and within the community. These programs include Unified Sports and Chandler Buddies. Funds raised will go to support activities, uniforms, meals, banquets, awards and much more!
