Dear Andrews Family

This week's eNews focuses specifically on our first round of state-wide STAAR testing that takes place next week. Please carefully read all of the information below, as it pertains to students of all grade levels.

Our 4th graders will test on Tuesday, March 29th, and our 5th graders will test on both Tuesday, March 29th and Wednesday, March 30th. The Andrews staff is confident that our students are prepared, and we can’t wait to see them shine!

Please remember that Friday (March 25th) is a school holiday. We hope that you and your family enjoy the upcoming three-day weekend, and we look forward to seeing our students back at school on Monday, March 28th.

Week of March 28th - April 1st - STAAR Testing Information and Reminders

STAAR Testing Dates – The first of two main rounds of state STAAR testing will take place during the week of March 28th - April 1st. Our 4th Graders will take Writing STAAR on March 29th. 5th Grade will take the Math STAAR on March 29th and the Reading STAAR on March 30th. Make-up testing days will be held on 3/31 and 4/1 if needed.

No Visitors/Volunteers/Tutoring/After-School Clubs - Week of 3/28-4/1 - In order to ensure a safe and secure testing environment, this week our school will be shut down to visitors and volunteers. Additionally, there will be no tutoring or after-school clubs held this week. Please plan accordingly to pick your child up at normal dismissal time of 2:45 p.m. during this week. Thank you!

Lunches - Parents, we would immensely appreciate your help by NOT bringing your child’s lunch to school on the STAAR testing days. If you must still bring a lunch, please deliver it to the front foyer lunch bins 10 minutes prior to lunch time.

Cell Phones - Cell phones cannot be accessible to students. Students will be required to give the phone to their teacher after powering it completely OFF, and the teacher will store them in a secure location for the day. The best choice would be to simply leave any cell phones at home for the day, if possible.

Building Temperature - Because of the varying temperature in the building, we suggest that students bring a light jacket to school in case the classroom is chilly.

Carpool Reminders

Please remember that you are not allowed to be on your cell phone when in carpool.
In school zones, it is a statewide law that unless the vehicle is stopped, or a handsfree device is used, drivers may not operate cell phones . Thank you for your attention to this matter.
