February 2023, Joyful Teaching! Joyful Learning!
From the Principal's Desk . . . Jacqueline Cubberly
I hope this message finds you well.
Our "Character Trait" of the month is KINDNESS. Please spend time with your child to discuss what it means to be kind and to view the below links.
Grades K-2:
Kindness by the Juicebox Jukebox
Grades 3-5:
How you treat people is who you are.
A few reminders:
- Please be sure that your child is not bringing personal items to school, such as pokemon cards, stuffed animals or other toys, as they become a distraction and at times are lost or damaged.
- If your child needs a winter coat, please contact our main office.
- For the safety of all, please follow our Arrival and Dismissal procedures as you drop off and pick up your child.
IMPORTANT:
If your child is a bus rider, we encourage you to please put him/her on the bus, rather than driving him/her to school. This would help to alleviate the traffic jams, ensuring a safe arrival and dismissal for all.
We would like to ask those who are driving your child(ren) to and from school the following:
ARRIVAL
- Please do not arrive before 9:00 am.
- If you do arrive early, do not send your child to the doors until 9:05 am - too many parents are dropping them off before 9:00 and then leaving.
- There is no supervision until 9:05 am.
- We open the doors at 9:05 am and students go straight to their homerooms.
- When you come earlier it creates a backup on Haines Road, causing unsafe conditions for all.
- Please stay in the car line and drop off your child(ren), do not park in the lot and cross the car lines.
- Once the doors are closed at 9:20 am, you will need to walk your child into the building and sign in the late book.
DISMISSAL
- Please do not arrive before 3:00 pm.
- We begin dismissing at 3:40 pm, please be here by then.
- If you arrive after 3:50 pm, you will need to come to the main doors to pick up your child.
Thank you for your support and patience as we navigate arrival and dismissal, with the goal of keeping our students safe and following procedures.

PREP - People Reaching their Educational Potential
Mrs. Schrack works with students in the PREP program who put their interview skills to work in January 2023! The students requested an interview with a staff member, came up with questions, completed the interview, and wrote an essay on the person. One student even interviewed our new superintendent, Mr. Nitti!
