FOR THANKSGIVING BREAK
SCHOOL RESUMES MONDAY, NOVEMBER 28
VETERANS DAY BREAKFAST
During breakfast, BHS students from the vocal music program performed the song "American Tears" under the direction of Miss Alison MacDonald and Mrs. Pamela Haberkorn. Buckeye Elementary students Piper Masuga (2nd Grade) Addy Masuga (4th Grade) Addison Clark (4th Grade) and Amelia Kenney (6th Grade) also performed, “A Thank You to Our Veterans” under the direction of Mrs. Laura Ramsey. Following the breakfast, Buckeye Elementary students and staff honored our veterans with a Clap Out Parade through the elementary school.
This breakfast would not have been possible without our amazingly generous Buckeye Elementary community, including our staff, our students and our Buckeye families. This event would not have been a success without your support. Following the breakfast, one veteran wrote:
My name is Tom Lamoda, my grandson, Tyler Lamoda attends your school as a fifth grader. I want to take this opportunity, to say thank you for your amazing tribute to Veterans Day this morning. It was a tremendous and enjoyable way to honor our country and vets. You and your staff should be commended for such a wonderful, heartfelt display of patriotism. You clearly demonstrated to your students that you have an exceptional love for our country, I do too. As I walked into your building, the staff greeted me and I felt a warm sense of belonging. Thank you again for the honor and privilege you bestowed upon me and my fellow veterans.
Respectfully,
Tom Lamoda
US Air Force and Vietnam Veteran
THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE
Thank you again to the Buckeye community for supporting our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive and making it another success! We were able to collect over 3,000 food items to benefit local families in need.
POKEMON CARDS
We have a small problem we hope you can help us with. With the growing popularity of Pokemon cards, students have been bringing them to school to share with friends. Due to this, we have had to become super sleuths, when cards go missing or otherwise. This is startingto take up LOTS of instructional time trying to find Pokemon cards.
Please know that if your student brings their cards to school, it will be at their risk. Many times they trade them (then change their minds), they leave them in places, and sometimes they even get taken. We will not be able to continue investigating missing Pokemon cards. Please ensure that these stay at home as it is the safest place for Pikachu at this time. Thank you for your help with this.
