FL-ALAS Newsletter
February 2022

President's Message
I am delighted to share that we continue to welcome new members from across the State of Florida. We are grateful for the interest and support of educational leaders who believe in our mission. We are not exclusive to just Hispanic/Latino educators, and welcome all. Together, we will be able to continue to provide leadership that assures every school effectively serves the educational needs of all students, with a particular emphasis on our Hispanic/Latino Youth.
On behalf of the Executive Board of Directors, I am also excited to share that we will be helping students to continue their education by awarding three different scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each. These scholarships are sponsored by our Premier Partner, Imagine Learning and Diamond Sponsor, Harmony-Social Emotional Learning.
We welcome your help with sharing this incredible opportunity to help a graduating high school senior, college, and graduate student pursue their degree in Education. The deadline to submit the scholarship application is May 1, 2022. Please review the eligibility requirements below, and we look forward to honoring our scholarship recipients this summer.
Yours in Service,
Patricia

The National Association for Bilingual Education Conference 2022
We are so proud of Dr. Margarita Pinkos who is one of our very own members, and the current President for NABE. She is also a graduate from the ALAS Superintendents Leadership Academy, Cohort 2. Dr. Pinkos has done an incredible job leading a national organization that continues to strengthen bilingual education.
