Song #1 "Hello" By: Adele

Adele - Hello (Conor Maynard & Anth) by AnthMelo

Big Idea: Sometimes Saying Sorry Doesn't Always Work.

In the song Adele sings " must have called a thousand times

To tell you I'm sorry for everything that I've done", once Brutus realized what mistake he made he is truly sorry for killing his best friend, so sorry and that he started seeing his ghost. Then she sings "To tell you I'm sorry for breaking your heart But it don't matter it clearly doesn't tear you apart anymore", The conspirators in act 3 scene 1, they tore him apart and stabbed in the heart both figuratively and literally. Seeing Brutus as the one stabbing him truly broke his heart since Brutus was such a good friend. Then it doesn't tear him apart anymore because he is at peace and up in heaven. Adele also says "I've forgotten how it felt before the world fell at our feet", Brutus had forgotten everything that happened before the chaos of war that happens in act 5 and before Caesar wasn't offered to be king and the power wasn't all to their heads.

Song #2- “Bad Blood” By Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift - Bad Blood (Lyrics)

Big Idea- Betraying your friend can cause anger and distrust.

In the song Bad blood, Taylor swift sings about her friend who betrayed her and how that made her feel. She sings “cause baby now we’ve got bad blood, You know it used to be mad love”, talking about her feelings towards her friend that betrayed her. This relates to Julius Caesar death in Act III scene I. After Brutus delivers the final stab on Caesar, he says “Et tu, Brute?” before dying, showing how Caesar was surprised that Brutus would betray him because he thought Brutus loved him. In the song, Taylor also sings, “you made a really deep cut”. This ties into the scene where Brutus and the conspirators kill Caesar in two ways. First, the conspirators obviously made a deep cut on caesar because he died and second, Brutus’ stab made not only a physical cut, but an emotional cut as well. Caesar loved Brutus and saw him as his friend, so his stab and his association with the conspirators surprised and emotionally affected caesar. Another line Taylor sings about her friends betrayal says “I was thinking you could be trusted.” This relates to the play because Caesar honored Brutus and gave him upmost respect and trust, and when Brutus stabbed him, he lost all trust in him.

Song #3 "Cry Me A River" By: Justin Timberlake

Cry Me A River - Justin Timberlake LYRICS HQ !

Big Idea: Betrayal by a Loved One Hurts the Most

Justin talks about the hurt of a loved one in his song "Cry Me a River", which connects to the plot of the play "Julius Caesar" because Caesar is directly betrayed by his friend Brutus. He sings "So you took a chance And made other plans", Brutus took a chance by going against his inner conflict and killing Caesar and him and the conspirators planned to kill Caesar. Then Timberlake sings "The bridges were burned Now it's your turn to cry", meaning that Brutus ruined his friendship with him and what they had and created chaos in Rome because he chose to kill Caesar, now its time for Brutus to grieve for Caesar's death, and feel bad for what he did and what he caused. What also sticks out to me of what really connects to Julius Caesar is the line "The damage is done, so I guess I'll be leavin", The conspirators have gone through with their plan of stabbing Caesar and Caesar watching Brutus was the ultimate betrayal and so now Caesar is leaving because he is dead.
