The Cougar's Den

Principal's Corner
The first semester has come to a close, and we are looking forward to another successful quarter. I would like to highlight some of the great things that our students have accomplished so far this year.
We have approximately 107 students with a 3.0 grade point average or higher who are invited to the Honor Roll Breakfast on the 7th. This event is hosted by our staff to recognize those students and their outstanding academic achievement.
We have doubled the number of students enrolled in our AVID program. AVID stands for "Advancement via Individual Determination." This program provides students with the necessary skills to succeed in college.
Finally, 100 percent of our 2017 winter graduates have applied to college.
We are extremely proud of the accomplishments of our students.
Thank You & Go Cougars!
A REINVESTMENT IN OUR SCHOOLS & COMMUNITIES
On Tuesday, March 14, 2017 the Boise School District will hold a bond election to reinvest in our neighborhood schools and community with no increase in the current property tax rate.
Winter Weather and the Boise School District
Education is important and every missed day of school represents lost learning opportunities. However, the Boise School District's primary concern is for the safety of all students, including students riding busses and walking or biking to school. If students cannot safely travel to school or if schools are not able to operate safely because of city-wide dangerous weather conditions, school may be cancelled.
We will not cancel school on days with normal wintery conditions. Light snowfall, cold mornings or areas of ice are not sufficiently dangerous to force the closure of schools. With proper precautions including appropriate clothing, road deicing, and careful driving, students can travel to and from school safely.
If school will be closed, we will communicate to local radio and television stations to spread the word. We will also email parents, send a text message, and post closure information at www.boiseschools.org and on our Twitter account @BSDEducation. To sign-up for the District’s emergency text messaging service text SUBSCRIBE to the number 68453.
If parents believe it is too dangerous for their children to travel to school they have the option to keep their children home. If school is cancelled, it will be cancelled for the entire District.
