Beginning of the Semester
Dear Parents,
Classroom rules and consistent routines help us create a harmonious classroom environment. By promoting clear and shared expectations the class can run smoothly in a respectful atmosphere appropriate to learning. Books such as “Lama Lama Time to Share”, “Hands are Not for Hitting” and “I Show Respect” paved the way for the discussion about our rules. When asked “what can we do with our hands?” children provided alternatives, such as coloring, hugging and playing. We even had special guests that showed us amazing skills with their hands. Musical instruments were also used as an amusing way to exemplify the important rule of the resting position.
While our schedule discussion was introduced with the “Hickory Dickory Dock” rhyme to answer our question: “when do things happen in school?” We explored the beat of a ticking clock and accompanied it with rhythm sticks. We have learned that a clock is a tool for telling time and our schedule is another way to tell time and find out what comes next in our day.
Next week we will begin a new study: buildings! Please read our letter to see how you as a family can participate and get involved in our learning experience.
Have a great weekend,

We would like to invite you next Wednesday, Feb 1st from 11:30- 12 noon for a "Meet and Greet".
We have organized the meeting with the idea of giving you an opportunity to meet Susana and learn about the transition as our newest ISP PK teacher. You will have time to observe a class routine and will then have time to meet Susana and ask her questions.
