The Chicago Bears
By: Mark Stewart/Book Report by Lance Hays
Introduction
The Chicago Bears is a book about football from when they first started and today's team. I chose The Chicago Bears because I have gotten to like them lately. I have always wondered if they were as good back then because they are now. By reading this book I learned that they might have been better back then then they are now. I would suggest this to people that like sports, football and the Chicago Bears.
The Chicago Bears Mascot Staley Da Bear.
"His first name has a special meaning. When the team first came to Chicago, it was named the Staleys. A year later, Staleys became the Bears."
The Super Bowl Shuffle
The Bears did a rap video during there awesome season in 1985. Willie Gault convinced some teammate to do The Super Bowl Shuffle. The Super Bowl Shuffle was a big hit and much of there money was sent to charity.
Bryon Piccolo and Gale Sayers
Bryon Piccolo and Gale Sayers were the first white, African-American roommates. The Bears knew this "experiment" would require two very special people. All through the season they shared a hotel room. They did this during training camp and road trips.
Mike Ditka as a Player
"When Mike Ditka joined the Bears, he showed that a tight end could be an excellent blocker and receiver. He took opponents by surprise as a rookie by catching 56 passes for 1,076 yards and 12 touchdowns."
Mike Ditka as a Coach
In 1982 Halas hired Mike Ditka to coach the Bears. The Bears finished 15-1 under coach Ditka. They made to the playoffs and shut out the Giants and the Los Angeles Rams. Then they got the greatest prize of all in football. The Vince Lombardi trophy when they beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XX.
