Catching the subtle hints
Subtle Bias in News
The news is very biased, much more than is noticeable easily. If you look deeper into the information, you can find out much more about how the news tries to trick us into thinking what they want.
Bias in the media
This is a picture that was in the "Life" magazine during the time period of internment camps, where Japanese Americans were sent as a result of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. This picture depicts a group of widowed women, who had lost their husbands because of the attack. This is biased, because they are focusing on the white Americans in pain, to make it seem like they were the only ones suffering, without mentioning the thousands of Japanese Americans that were being taken from their homes, losing their jobs, and getting their culture stripped from them.
What the media didn't show
This is a picture of a group of Japanese Americans against a fence at the edge of an internment camp. They are trying to get out or find someone to help them, it seems. This is very saddening and disturbing, but something like this would never be shown in the media, because they were trying to make it seem like what they were doing was okay. They were being very discriminatory and if all those people that saw the "Life" magazine picture saw this, they would've felt very different about what was going on in some of these camps.
Promoting discrimination
Another thing that was promoted and shown was all the people that supported the racism and discrimination. There were many Americans who thought what was going on was completely okay, and through their voice, promoted their beliefs and caused some others to join in with this terrible movement.
