and Celebrations Term 2 2021

From the Principal

Hi everyone,

The day has finally arrived - it's DISCO DAY and the kids are excited and staff can hardly contain their excitement -

truly ruly! :)

Little moments like these are offered to contribute to the accumulation of happy memories your children have of their class and our school!

The wonderful P&F team have worked tirelessly to ensure that all details have been thought of to make the experience as enjoyable for children as possible, while also being respectful of the time of our hardworking staff at this very busy time in the term.

We sincerely thank Leanne and Jain who have done all the behind the scenes planning and also thank all the parents who have supported them in so many ways.

Please make sure you are clear about the practical details in regards to drive through times. These are set out again below.

If your kids want to sing our adapted version of LET IT GO over the weekend, here at the lyrics and link to the instrumental music. You may like to join in - nothing like a bit of singing to get all those feel good hormones racing around the body! :)

Link to instrumental music:

The hall glows bright in the disco tonight

So many colours, to be seen

Fluro - light creations

And it feels so, like a dream.

Excitement building,

like a swirling storm inside

Can’t keep it in,

Heaven knows we’ve tried!

And Mrs C and Mrs G,

are the DJ’s, that we all love to see!

We feel, it’s real, just so you know

And now let’s glow!

Let it glow, let it glow

Can't hold it back any more

Let it glow, let it glow

Come away - away from that door!

We don't care,

what any others say

Let the dance rage on

Sore-feet never bothered us anyway!

It's funny how these dance moves

make every-thing seem right

Any fears that once controlled us

can't get to us to-night!

It's time to see what we can do

To test the limits - and all of our dance moves

No right, no wrong, no rules for us

We’re free!

Let it glow, let it glow

We are one with the wind and sky

Let it glow, let it glow

Spread our wings and we will fly

Here we stand

and here we stay

Let the dance rage on

Our dancing flurries through the air into the ground

Our souls are spiralling, cool moves are all around

And one thought crystallises like an icy blast

We’re going to dance all night,

We’ll make this disco last!

Let it glow, let it glow

We’ll rise like the break of dawn

Let it glow, let it glow

We’ll dance until we’re gone!

Here we stand

on a Friday night

And it’s time to go -

But endings, never bothered us anyway!

K-2 School Disco - THIS AFTERNOON

  • K-2 children attending the disco will be walking to the hall straight after school with their school bag (and drink bottle).
  • K-2 children are to bring some afternoon tea from home and they will eat this prior to the disco.
  • K-2 children to bring what they plan on wearing in their bag - a colourful t-shirt is fine.
  • K-2 children will purchase their novelties today at recess time.
  • K-2 children to be collected at 4.05 pm - via drive through only outside the hall/church (enter via roundabout and exit left onto Amherst).
  • Make sure you have your family name card is clearly visible on your visor.
  • Siblings can be dropped at this time - drop them outside the office on the way to the hall and they walk to undercover area, while K-2 kids get out near the hall. A teacher will walk all siblings to the hall closer to the senior disco time - 4.40pm
  • Any child not attending the disco will leave to go home as normal through the office drive through.
  • Goodie bags will be given to kids as they exit the disco.

Year 3-6 School Disco - THIS AFTERNOON

  • Years 3-6 children are to eat afternoon tea at home and come dressed in their fluro outfit.
  • Years 3-6 children are to bring their water bottle.
  • Years 3-6 children are to be dropped off at the hall at 4.30pm (if they have a brother or sister at K-2 disco they can be dropped off at this time, as you pick up your younger child and they walk to the undercover area).
  • Years 3-6 children are to be picked up at 5.55pm at normal drive through.
  • Make sure you have your family name card is clearly visible on your visor.

We continue to cross fingers and toes that the weather will cooperate this evening!

Take care and all the very best for the week ahead everyone.

Semester One Reports 2021 (PP-Year 6)

Reports will be available on Tuesday 29th June after 3pm.

It is very important that you know how to access your child’s report.

Parents whose child in Pre-Primary is the eldest child, as well as all new families, would have received an email this week with information on how to set up your own SEQTA Engage account.

Reports for St Emilie’s students are only available online, through SEQTA Engage.

If you are having difficulty accessing your SEQTA Engage account please contact the Front Office by emailing

stemiliesadmin@cewa.edu.au and we will be happy to assist you.

We need 19 families ... can you help us please? :)

Hi everyone!

The St Emilie's Parish are running their major fundraiser for the year and they have asked us for our help to sell 19 books of tickets.

Each book has 20 tickets and each ticket is $5.00.

We would REALLY appreciate it if we could find 19 wonderful families who would be prepared to take a book and sell these tickets as soon as possible to neighbours, friends and workmates to support our parish.

Please contact the Office if you can help and we take a note of your details and send the book home.

If you have not communicated your school fee payment plan please contact Mrs Gillian Norris asap. Thank you for your support - as you will appreciate it makes it extremely difficult for planning , budgeting and accountability purposes when families do not discuss their intentions.

$10.00 desks available for sale - grab a bargain!

We have a large number of school desks available in excellent condition for a quick sale - in a variety of sizes.

Heights of the desks are as follows:

680 mm

580 mm

480 mm

If you wish to purchase one or more, please contact the school office by email detailing how many you are interested in.

Please tell your neighbours and friends also!

Desks can be collected from the back gate next Friday when the Busy Bee is being held.

All proceeds will go the P&F for fundraising purposes.

Many thanks to everyone who grabbed a desk at the Busy Bee.

If you are interested please let the Office know!

Cash for Cans Scheme here at St Emilie's

At our last P&F Meeting one of our parents, Mrs Nicole Grima, volunteered to trial coordinating a CASH FOR CANS program here at St Emilies.

As you will be aware this Government initiative encourages the community to recycle cans, bottles etc and receive a 10 cent refund.

If you are already doing this with your family - great! If however your family would like to support our school and direct some of your bottles and cans etc here, we would be very grateful!

Please see the poster below for more details.

Kindy enrolments are an exciting time for our school - we love to meet new families and touch base with our existing families!

School social workers focus on the student in the school environment and work collaboratively with principals and teachers to minimise the impacts of personal, family and school difficulties and, where possible, remove any barriers to learning.

With students as their focus, school social workers provide consultancy, advice and support to principals, teachers and other school staff and to families so that they can best meet the needs of individual and groups of children and young people. There is a strong emphasis on individual student and family counselling and support. This is an amazing opportunity for kids, staff and families and one we have wanted in our school for some time.

Please find below the Parent Referral and Consent Form to access our School Social Worker.

You are asked to read the procedure carefully and also note that Kylie only works two days a week. While she will do her very best to accomodate all family referrals, patience may be required as she prioritises her case load and allows time for observation visits, classroom support and playground involvement.
