John Green's Books
The Name's Green. John Green.
John has published 6 books, made a bestselling movie, started two more movies all while managing a very successful "vlog" with his brother, Hank Green. His book, The Fault In Our Stars (TFIOS), is a #1 New York Times bestseller. TFIOS was also turned into a movie, which brought in $48 million on its opening weekend.
John Green also created vlogs with his brother. Originally, it was a way for them to communicate. It led to an entire community of fans, called nerdfighters, working together to "improve world suck".
I'm about to take you on a journey. A journey through the entrepreneurial career of a life changing author. And hopefully it'll make you want to open one of his books and experience the magic for yourself.
Though writing wasn't his first choice, he worked extremely hard at it. His first novel, Looking For Alaska showed how all his hard work paid off. It received the annual Michael L. Printz Award.
His writing shares that tone. I personally think that's why so many like it. It is fun to read, and it feels personal, giving you a deeper connection to the characters.
"When did we see each other face to face? Not until you saw into my cracks and I saw into yours. Before that, we were just looking at ideas of each other, liking looking at your window shade but never seeing inside. But once the vessel cracks, the light can get in. The light can get out."
-Paper Towns (John Green)
"Maybe okay will be our always."
-The Fault In Our Stars (John Green)
As you can see from these two quotes, John's writing has a poetic quality. It's page after page of stuff like this that is the reason John is so admired.
His books are also very unique ideas. He has demonstrated thinking ability in his unique, well thought out and intricate plots.
He really knows how to keep an author interested, and how to market a book.
For example, despite being previously published, Green's first book received a Michael L. Printz award.
Over all, John Green is very skilled at what he does. He made a living out of his passions and experiences. I highly recommend checking out his website and books. Along with that, joining the nerdfighters is a great idea. They rally together, using their talents to solve problems.
