At SACS, our mission to prepare today’s learners for tomorrow’s opportunities includes teachers, too. During a Flex Day, teachers will use the morning to engage in professional development. This is a form of education for teachers designed to guide and enhance teaching strategies, techniques and tips, as well as to provide all teachers collaboration time with other educators to improve their own teaching or classroom environment. Following professional development on a Flex Day, teachers are available in the afternoon to answer students’ questions via Canvas messaging.

The 2022-2023 Flex Days are scheduled as follows:

• Tuesday, September 20, 2022

• Wednesday, November 2, 2022

• Friday, March 10, 2023

Illnesses that are excused by a physician on their official letterhead will not be counted as part of the ten parent/guardian excused absences. Each day that the physician is excusing must be stated on that document. Please note that starting with the 2022-2023 school year, the requirement to provide a note from a physician in order to have an absence coded as doctor’s excused will also apply to students with COVID and/or COVID-like symptoms.
