News from Mrs. Mankin
Dear Bulldog Families,
We hope that this week has been a relatively smooth transition for your student(s) and family! There have been several changes this year for us to adapt to: early start times, a full-day/full-week in-person schedule, and some updated procedures. We are so appreciative of your patience and partnership as we all adjust to our new school year.
Be sure to ask your child about community-building, learning routines, and class agreements/expectations based upon our Building-wide FISH expectations. Students have been engaged in discussion about what the following expectations look like in their classrooms:
- Be There
- Make Their Day
- Choose Your Attitude
- Play Safely and Fairly (Safety)
Parents/guardians of students in 1st-4th grades will have the opportunity to meet their student's teacher, learn more about classroom expectations, and hear about learning highlights on Monday, August 9th. There will be two sessions for your convenience, but you only need to attend one for each child:
- Session #1, 5:45p.m.-6:15
- Session #2, 6:30p.m.-7:00
It has been a busy 3 days, and it always takes some extra time to get back into the routine of school. Students and teachers alike will sleep well tonight and will need some extra rest and relaxation this weekend. We feel so fortunate to be working with each and every New Britton student. Thank you for sharing your child(ren) with us! As always, thank you for partnering with us in education.
Sincerely,
Lori Mankin, Principal

Speech and Hearing Screenings
Welcome back NBE families! Many students will be participating in speech and hearing screenings during the first two weeks of school.
Speech screenings will be completed for Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students and you will be contacted via phone and letter if your child would benefit from speech therapy services in the school setting. If you are not contacted, you can assume your child passed his/her speech screenings for their developmental age level (see chart below for district wide norms).

Hearing screenings will be completed for Kindergarten, 1st, 4th, and any new students who move to the HSE school district. If students fail the screening, they will be re-screened in 2-3 weeks and a referral will be sent home at that time if hearing continues to be a concern.
