PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Hello Woodfield Families and Friends,
As we begin October, we know that we will bring together cohort A and cohort B beginning on Monday, October 5th. While we are very excited to have all our students back together, we understand that some students might have some anxiety regarding this change. Please talk to your child's teacher for additional resources if this is the case.
It is important to keep in mind that as the situation with COVID-19 changes, we may need to make changes and pivot quickly. Although our plan is to maintain 5-day in-person instruction, we will need to shift to full virtual instruction at times based on new cases and exposures, as we have done already with some cohorts. These shifts will be based on CRCHD recommendations and staff availability. We will contact you as needed. Please make sure that your contact information is up to date in Skyward.
We will continue to physically distance and stay with our individual classes (cohorts) in all areas of the school. We know bringing all students together will be a challenge but the teachers have been preparing for the switch to full classes and will practice expectations with students throughout this transition.
Communication will be extremely important this year due to the possibility of changing models. Please email your child's homeroom teacher any questions or needs early in the day so these can be addressed during their lunch break. I ask that you do your best to be consistent with how your child is going home at the end of the day. If you need to make changes, please let your child's teacher know well in advance to inform the school office. I know emergencies happen so if a change is needed the day of, please call the main office, 262-514-8230 by 2:30 pm so we can ensure your child gets where he/she needs to go.
Finally, we will continue to utilize the NEW Pick-Up process (see below) that has been working successfully. With bringing all students together, please utilize the parking lot as much as you can and meet your kiddos at the crosswalk. Also, please be patient as we will open the drive as soon as students have cleared the driveway.
"5 Days of Week" Model
WEARING A FACE MASK –
Face masks are required at school while in the building or when we cannot appropriately social distance; however, there will be times when the mask can be removed. Times students/staff may have their mask off:
When eating
When drinking
Taking care of personal needs (blowing nose…)
When outside for classes & physically distanced
When a staff person indicates it is possible to be physically distanced (outdoors), but the student may still choose to keep their mask on
In the building, masks will need to be worn at all times
Our 4K Students will have a face shield option when in the classroom
Making sure your child's mask fits correctly and comfortably will help prevent them from fidgeting with it. A cloth face covering should fit over your child's nose and mouth and be secured under their chin. Avoid any gaps on the sides by adjusting the mask's fit so it is snug. Always check that your child can breathe easily when wearing the mask. When putting on your child's mask, or when teaching your child how to put on their own mask, make sure you or your child always wash your hands first.

What Lunch and Recess look like . . . what Specials look like?
Art Class: Art class will continue to be taught in the homeroom or outside when weather permits. Students will NOT be sharing materials.
Music Class: Music will also continue to be taught in the classroom for the most part, however Mrs. Canales will rotate one class from her morning schedule and one class from her afternoon schedule into the music room to utilize some materials. Again NO shared materials or singing. She too will take students outside when weather permits.
Phy Ed: Phy Ed classes will be outside most days all school year. It is important to ensure that students wear appropriate shoes on their Phy Ed day as well as dress for the weather. The only time students will be inside for Phy Ed will be when it is raining or when the wind chill is below zero.
Snacks, Birthday Treats & Water Bottles
If you want to celebrate birthday's by sharing a treat with the class, the treat needs to be factory individually wrapped such as packages of animal crackers, pretzels, goldfish, or fruit. Sorry no large trays of cupcakes this year. Your child's teacher will also communicate if there are any allergies in the class you would need to be flexible with.
The water fountains (bubblers) have been replaced with bottle fillers at school. We are asking students to bring a water bottle each day to school for their personal use. Please make sure the water bottle can be securely closed to avoid spillage in the classroom. Teachers will support students filling their water bottle as necessary.

NEW MORNING & AFTERNOON STUDENT PICK UP & DROP OFF PROCEDURES
DUE TO THE HIGH VOLUME OF CHILDREN BEING DRIVEN TO AND FROM SCHOOL, WE ADDED NEW PROCEDURES.
PLEASE BE PATIENT. PLEASE FOLLOW THE SIGNAGE. PLEASE BE KIND.
THANK YOU!
AM- Parent Drops Off in front drive. Parents stay in the vehicle. Students go to the playground for Morning line-up wearing their masks. Parents can escort their child to the playground but you also must wear a mask. Parents are not allowed to walk students in to the building.
PM- Parent Pick Up in front - See Traffic Diagram ***THIS IS NEW***
- We are asking that parents come into the parking lot, park and walk up to the front drive and get their child when ever possible.
- For physical distancing parents are asked to stay on the far side of the drive way and their child will walk to them once released. Oldest children will join their youngest siblings area to wait for pick-up.
- Parents need to be masked when out of their car during pick-up.
- We will be holding car traffic until we have cleared parents and students who walked up.
- Once the drive is clear of pick-up we will open the drive up for car pick-up.
See Diagram below
Walkers and Bike riders-
- Students will be dismissed within the building.
CHROMEBOOKS FOR STUDENTS & PROCEDURES
Students in 5K and 1st grade will be assigned an iPad to support their learning. This year we will be assigning students this technology to ensure we can move quickly to a virtual model if needed.
Students will take their Chromebook/iPad home at the end of each school day and return it the following school day. We ask that you charge the Chromebook each night prior to your child bringing it to school. Chargers should be left at home for nightly use. The classroom will have extra chargers for use during the school day if needed, however charging the device each evening will minimize downtime.
Calendar Events
Oct 5th - All students return to school 5 days a week
Oct 9th - NO school for students - Teacher requested virtual conferences
Oct 12th & 15th - Picture Day
Oct 28-30 - NO school for students (Professional Development for Staff)
