Acting Principal's Message
Kia ora whānau
I hope you've had a great week and you have been able to enjoy some of the glorious sunshine. It’s been great to see our tamariki wearing their pōtae/hats and keeping sun smart in the Hawkes Bay sun!
In our upcoming events you may have noticed that our Art Deco celebration at school is on the Friday following the Art Deco weekend. The perfect opportunity to test drive an outfit before the big day at school. The change in dates is partly due to our Year 6 tamariki who will be off-site and experiencing Optimist Yachting at Te Whanganui-a-Orutū/Ahuriri Estuary. A special part of our Art Deco day is our Year 6 tamariki showing off their deco dancing skills, and while they pretend not to love it, we all know better! We hope you are able to join us for our whānau picnic and see for yourself the deco dancing and dapper dress at TPS.
Events like Optimist Yachting really can’t happen without our whānau support and we are super grateful for the time and energy our whānau invest into our kura. Whether it's volunteering for class trips, attending our Connecting with Whānau evenings next week, joining our friendly PTA or simply staying informed about what's happening at school, there are many ways for whānau to be involved.
Ngā mihi,
Greg English

This afternoon, Mana whenua, Ngāti Pārau held a haka pōwhiri to open the new building at the Pettigrew Green Arena. Well done to our tamariki and kaiako who represented our kura with mana and pride. A big thanks also to our whānau who came along and to support our kura and the haka pōwhiri.
Road Patrol Helpers
Urgently needed – A road patrol volunteer
We urgently require a volunteer to help with road patrol on Puketapu Road.
Time: 820am – 8.45am Thursday mornings
If you can help on any of this day, please phone Amanda in the office on 8442626 or email office@taraprim.school.nz
Absences and Illnesses
While we would love 100% attendance we know that this is just not always possible, especially in these times when we need to be even more alert to health, cleanliness and aware of the importance of not spreading ‘bugs’.
If your child has been vomiting or has had diarrhoea then s/he should not return to school for 48 hours after the last bout of vomiting or diarrhoea.
Other illnesses that require time away from school include …
· Colds and flu
· School sores
· Viral infections
It is your legal responsibility as a parent to ensure that if your child is away then the school must be notified. A reason must also be given.
To report an absence, you need to …
· Text only - 027 353 0514 (do not phone this number)
· Email - office@taraprim.school.nz
· Call the office and leave a message – 844 2626
· HERO APP
SENCO require your help
Do you, or your extended whānau, have either items listed below that your tamariki no longer use? If so, our SENCO team would really appreciate them donated for their resources.
-Kids indoor teepees
-Kids indoor tent teepees
PTA Fundraiser - Art Deco Morning Tea
This year we will again be providing morning tea and service for the Hawkes Bay Vintage Car Club morning tea function for 500 people on Saturday 18th Feb for ART DECO weekend.
We really need your help to maintain the fantastic reputation we have for providing an
awesome spread and the wonderful opportunity this presents for us to raise much needed funds
for our school.
We would like each family to provide a plate (or more if possible!) and drop it off at the Taradale
Primary School Hall on Church Rd between 07.30am and 08.30am (no later) on Sat 18th
Feb. Savoury items are most popular, although sweet are great too. Gluten free was also
really popular last year so it would be great if we could have some of these also.
