Spring Time in JHYM
In Connection Hour, we finished up March discussing healthy doubt in regard to our faith. Doubt is a natural part of growing in our faith especially in these teenage years. Doubt in the Bible is not hidden and was a problem for many of God’s people, including some of his strongest followers in both in the Old and the New Testament. Doubt can push our teens to discover more. It encourages deeper thinking. Firm faith stabilizes our belief and anchors us to truth. "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1.
We continued this discussion of doubt this past week by talking about the Resurrection. We had some great conversations! We will finish out April digging deeper into the story of Jesus's death and resurrection and the questions we have. By talking these out, my goal for the kids is that they find that Christianity is not only true for them, but can be a universal truth for all people, allowing them to be confident in sharing their faith in the coming years, but also to be able to confidently fall back on Jesus when they are on their own.
We have some big fun on the horizon including Barn Dance... JHYM is hosting this community middle school dance that I hope will be the first of many to come. I am throwing out the call for help with this as I will need hands to help decorate Saturday morning, provide cookies for the refreshment table and also chaperone (gotta make sure they are leaving room for the Holy Spirit!). If you can help, please let me know... I'll take all the help I can get! Email me at leticia.bachman@zionwalburg.org or text 512.694.1234.
Summer Mission Trip registration deadline is April 30th!!! Please sign up soon if your rising 6th, 7th or 8th grader is interested in coming along. Sorry current 8th graders, this trip isn't for you (sniff, sniff- I miss you guys already!). It will be a fun week of faith, fellowship and service. I am really looking forward to spending this week with your teens. Information is found below.
Remember, you/your child do not need to be a member of Zion church to attend or participate in ANY JHYM event.
Thank you for entrusting your teen to me. I truly care for each of them and keep them constantly in my prayers. You are raising great kids!
Blessings,
Leticia
