Bring your students and any other family members or friends who want to have a blast at each month's themed skate party at the Northland Rolladium. The class with the most attendance will be awarded the "Golden Skate Award" trophy to keep in their classroom each month along with a free pass for each student in that class to use at a future public session. This month wear your favorite holiday gear to "Roll into the Holidays" and skate with Santa Roo! It's only $3.50 to skate, plus $2.50 for skate rental or $3.50 for inline or speed skate rental. There will be Schumacher Celebrity appearances by Mr. Farris & Ms. Townsend!

You are always welcome to stay, and even skate, with your child. But the rink has experienced management and staff, so you are welcome to sign them in with a contact phone number and come back to pick them up later. Sounds like a great opportunity this month to get some holiday shopping done!

PTA is hosting their second FREE movie night on this Friday, December 12th at 7:00pm. Join other Schumacher families as we watch Disney's Frozen. There will be popcorn, drinks, and snacks available for purchase as well.

In addition Red Wheel Fundraiser orders will be available for pick up during this night from 5:00-8:00pm.

Our students did a great job selling items through the Red Wheel Fundraiser. The classes that sold the most from each grade will be sending their teachers to "Spin the Wheel" for prizes this Friday at the PTA Movie Night. The winners are:

Kindergarten- Mrs. Cogan's class

First Grade- Mrs. Smith's class

Second Grade- Mrs. Taylor's class

Third Grade- Ms. Heemstra's class

Fourth Grade- Ms. Townsend's class

Fifth Grade- Ms. Hanson's class

All orders will be ready for pick up this Friday the 12th between 5:00-8:00pm in the commons area overlooking the Gym. Please make every effort to pick up your orders at this time.

Have you heard your students talking about computer coding? Did you even know it was possible for Kindergarteners to learn coding?

This week, all Schumacher students have the opportunity to participate in a global computer science campaign called the Hour of Code. This program seeks to expose all students to one hour of computer coding lessons and games to show that everyone is capable of coding. During last year’s Hour of Code campaign, over 15 million students participated and in a single week, more girls tried computer science than had in the last 70 years!

Schumacher students will experience coding during Library Specials. Ask your student what they think!

Come get your picture taken with Santa at the Mabee Center Basketball Courts at William Jewell on Monday December 15th between 6:00 and 7:30pm.

Jewell Basketball is asking for donations of small unused toys, games and twin sheet sets. Donations will go to the WJC Village Partner program and will be used in Honduras and the KC Area. Questions - Call us at 415-7634

Hola from The Language Project! Did you know Schumacher has a Spanish Club? We are currently accepting enrollments; simply click here to enroll your student.

Bilingualism has many benefits! Aside from acquiring a language, bilingual students on average multitask at a higher rate, test higher on standardized tests, and their brains function at a higher rate. Check out this news article on bilingual brain benefits: http://www.foxnews.com/health/2014/11/13/people-who-speak-two-language-have-more-brain-power-study-says/?intcmp=ob_homepage_health&intcmp=obnetwork.

Email us at director@languageprojectkids.com for questions or more information. We look forward to having your student join in on our bilingual journey.

The Early Bird Learning Center is Accepting Enrollments for the 2015- 2016 School Year. Would you like to get your three or four year old on the path to a lifelong love of learning? If so, then enroll your child in The Early Bird Learning Center, a Child Development Laboratory program at Liberty High School. The learning center follows the LPS school calendar and hours are 8:00am-4:00pm. Tuition is $600 per month, but The Early Bird Learning Center is excited to offer two incentives to our future families through early enrollment and referrals.

Early Bird students are embraced within the dynamic school community of Liberty High School. The Family Consumer Sciences Program continues to flourish and grow. Incredible connections are made every day with our high school role models. In addition many other departments continue to collaborate with our program to enrich the learning, teaching, and curriculum. Our learning has expanded to include Chinese culture and language lessons, instructional lessons taught by our future teachers enrolled in the Educational Internship Program, weekly "field trips" to the Library Media Center, and mini-lessons orchestrated by our A+ students.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call Megan DiLonardo at (816) 736-7075 or Bridget Herrman at (816) 736-5332.
