THE HOUR OF CODE
Have you heard your students talking about computer coding? Did you even know it was possible for Kindergarteners to learn coding?
This week, all Schumacher students have the opportunity to participate in a global computer science campaign called the Hour of Code. This program seeks to expose all students to one hour of computer coding lessons and games to show that everyone is capable of coding. During last year’s Hour of Code campaign, over 15 million students participated and in a single week, more girls tried computer science than had in the last 70 years!
Schumacher students will experience coding during Library Specials. Ask your student what they think!
SANTA IS COMING TO THE COURTS AT WILLIAM JEWELL
Come get your picture taken with Santa at the Mabee Center Basketball Courts at William Jewell on Monday December 15th between 6:00 and 7:30pm.
Jewell Basketball is asking for donations of small unused toys, games and twin sheet sets. Donations will go to the WJC Village Partner program and will be used in Honduras and the KC Area. Questions - Call us at 415-7634
Hola from The Language Project! Did you know Schumacher has a Spanish Club? We are currently accepting enrollments; simply click here to enroll your student.
Bilingualism has many benefits! Aside from acquiring a language, bilingual students on average multitask at a higher rate, test higher on standardized tests, and their brains function at a higher rate. Check out this news article on bilingual brain benefits: http://www.foxnews.com/health/2014/11/13/people-who-speak-two-language-have-more-brain-power-study-says/?intcmp=ob_homepage_health&intcmp=obnetwork.
Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for questions or more information. We look forward to having your student join in on our bilingual journey.
EARLY BIRD LEARNING CENTER PRESCHOOL
The Early Bird Learning Center is Accepting Enrollments for the 2015- 2016 School Year. Would you like to get your three or four year old on the path to a lifelong love of learning? If so, then enroll your child in The Early Bird Learning Center, a Child Development Laboratory program at Liberty High School. The learning center follows the LPS school calendar and hours are 8:00am-4:00pm. Tuition is $600 per month, but The Early Bird Learning Center is excited to offer two incentives to our future families through early enrollment and referrals.
Early Bird students are embraced within the dynamic school community of Liberty High School. The Family Consumer Sciences Program continues to flourish and grow. Incredible connections are made every day with our high school role models. In addition many other departments continue to collaborate with our program to enrich the learning, teaching, and curriculum. Our learning has expanded to include Chinese culture and language lessons, instructional lessons taught by our future teachers enrolled in the Educational Internship Program, weekly "field trips" to the Library Media Center, and mini-lessons orchestrated by our A+ students.
