St Patrick’s Day Blessing
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
Amen
From the Principal
Dear St Columba’s school community,
Last Friday, I was thrilled to attend my first Assembly and listen to our wonderful Year 6 student leaders and be entertained by Mrs Buiks Year 4W class. The messages that were delivered during this assembly really highlighted the importance of respect; respect of ourselves, our friends and families and our whole school community. To finish off last week, the P&F held a very successful Hawaiian Disco which was thoroughly enjoyed by students, staff and parents.
On Monday, the Year 4–6 students participated in swimming trials as a lead up to the Swimming Carnival next week. Thank you to Mr Chatt, staff and parent volunteers for making this a smooth event for all students. Good luck to everyone who is competing in the swimming carnival next Monday. I’m looking forward to cheering on our students as they splash their way down the pool! A gentle reminder that, while parents are encouraged to come along and watch, please do not enter the bays where the students are sitting as they will be supervised by staff.
Next week, there will be a focus on two important feast days. Firstly, St Patrick’s Day will be on Wednesday, March 17 and I encourage all students to dress up in green and bring a gold coin donation. All monies raised will go to the Lord Mayor’s Bushfire Appeal.
Friday, March 19 is St Joseph’s Feast Day. This feast day is significant for the St Columba’s community as St Joseph links directly to our charisms and history. As a school we will be heading over to the Convent Chapel to participate in a liturgy to reflect on the life and teachings of St Joseph. A big thank you to Sister Maree Riddler for helping us organise this lovely event.
Thank you to those who use Kiss and Drive, for displaying their family names to assist with the flow of traffic during pick-up. The congestion is starting to ease which is great to see. A reminder to please not park along Forrest Street as this impacts the Kiss and Drive and causes unnecessary stress for our families and neighbours.
As we approach the weekend, I look forward to seeing those involved with the Sacraments this year at the Sacramental Enrolment Mass on Saturday night and the P&F ‘Welcome Back’ Picnic on Sunday afternoon.
God Bless

P&F News
The P&F Disco was a great success! All of the children had a blast. A huge thank you to all the volunteers on the night. A big thank you to Brooke Pink for assisting Fran Palermo.
Sadly this was Fran's last disco and we would like to say a huge "Thank you" to her for all the many years of organising the disco that every student has been able to experience and enjoy. Thank you so much.
As of next year Brooke Pink has agreed to take over from Fran. She has big shoes to fill. Thank you Brooke.
The Hot Cross Buns are going well. Please don't forget to order and ask family, friends, work colleagues and neighbours. Remembering that we raise $4.35 from every 6 pack to go towards further playground upgrades.
We will be selling raffle tickets for the visitors carpark bay near the office for morning drop off and afternoon pick up in Term 2, which I'm sure we would all love to win. Tickets go on sale the last week of this Term $2.00 a ticket or 3 for $5.00.
We have booked The Peter Rabbit 2 movie for Sunday 28th March at 2.30pm Cygnet Theatre. Trybooking opening soon. A great way to start Easter and the school holidays. We have been waiting a long time for this movie release.
