3rd Grade STAAR Testing Next Week
Third grade students will be taking two STAAR tests on Tuesday and Wednesday. STAAR results are just one piece of information that teachers use to identify instructional gaps.
All testing will be done on campus - remote students are asked to report after morning drop-off at 7:35 am on their testing days to the front office. Students will need to wear a mask and will have their temperatures checked prior to entering the office. Students are allowed 4 hours to test, and parents will be called once testing is complete. If you child is a face-to-face learner, please make sure to schedule any doctor's appointments for after school on testing days. Please encourage your child to get a good night's sleep the night before, and eat a healthy breakfast on testing mornings. PTO has provided snacks and water bottles for all students who are testing.
Our testing days are:
- Math - Tuesday, May 11th
- Reading - Wednesday, May 12th
- Make-up testing through Friday, May 14th
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Stewart at karla_stewart@lagovista.txed.net.

Parent input regarding their child's learning strengths and weaknesses are a crucial part of the data that we review to finalize classes. Hello LVES Families! The character trait we are learning about this month is Gratitude. Students will understand that having and showing gratitude means saying thank you for the things you receive, thinking about what you are thankful for and why, showing others how nice it feels to be remembered and appreciated by someone, and understanding that you are not owed things, that you earn them. Having and showing gratitude can increase your own inner joy, and helps create a more positive outlook. Since this week is Teacher Appreciation Week, it is a great time to talk about all of the wonderful things our teachers do for their students, and how important teachers are to us. Encourage your child to continue to show their gratitude for their teacher by showing respect, doing what the teacher needs them to do, and helping when needed.
“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.” ~William Arthur Ward
~William Arthur Ward

New CDC Guidelines for Fully Vaccinated Persons
Now that vaccinations for Covid are more available, it's good to know how they affect your need to quarantine if exposed to Covid.
People who are fully vaccinated (2 weeks after their last dose in the series) do not need to quarantine after a close contact.
Unlike people who have only a 90 day window of immunity after testing positive, fully vaccinated people are not limited to 90 days.
As it is still early in our vaccination experience, the CDC will continue to evaluate how long the protection lasts, but for now, it is considered ongoing!
Click here for the full guidelines.
