Highlights from Holy Weeks Past/Holy Week Resources

Holy Monday hymn (Vespers verse)

You taught Your Disciples, O Lord,
to desire what is perfect,
saying: “Be not like the Gentiles, who oppress the weak!
It shall not be so with you, O my Disciples....
for of my Own will I am poor.
Let the first among you, therefore, be the servant of all!
Let the ruler be like those who are ruled!
Let him who is first be like the last!
For I have come to serve Adam in his poverty,
and to give My life as a ransom for the many who cry to Me:
‘O Lord, glory to You!’”

Palm Sunday 2014

This morning we had the joy of celebrating Palm Sunday with the baptism and chrismation of the Hassler Family and Craig McCullough (1 baptism, 4 chrismations). Such a wonderful occasion for the community to add our 'amen' and proclamation of 'sealed!' to these new members of the Orthodox Church. There is always such an abundance of grace present at a baptism and chrismation - a true reminder, as Holy Week begins of the great gift of love and healing that Jesus accomplishes in His saving Passion and Resurrection, which we remember throughout this entire week

Lazarus Saturday/Palm Sunday 2013

On Vespers of Palm Sunday, St. Stephens was blessed to receive seven catechumens into the Orthodox Church through baptism and chrismation. Joshua (David), Sarah, and Chavah Boruff were baptized and chrismated, while Kristin (Anna Christina), Cody (Alexios), Casey (Ruth), and Jacob (Paul) Boruff were received through chrismation. May God Grant them Many Years!
