Message from Dr. Llewellyn & Mrs. Watkins

Hello North Stars!

We had a great first week of school. The students are very excited to be sitting in groups and enjoy eating lunch in the cafeteria each day with their friends. It makes my heart happy to see the students eager to come to school each day. I love seeing them happy to get off the bus or out of the car each morning. Thank you for sharing your children with us.

Mrs. Watkins and I are looking forward to a great school year. We cannot wait to welcome parents and families into the building for events again - it has been a long time!

If you have questions or concerns about anything moving forward, please do not hesitate to reach out to either of us. We look forward to seeing each of you soon.

Character Trait for the Month of September ---RESPECT

Big picture
Teachers submit a name of a child in their class that exemplifies the Character Trait of the Month. Those students are invited to a special pancake breakfast at the end of the month to honor them. Students will receive a certificate and have their pictures taken by our Character banner.
Each morning we begin our day by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance followed by a brief moment of silence. We then recite the North Elementary School pledge. This routine helps to reinforce the expectations we have for our students and our staff. Please help your child to practice the NES Pledge. Starting at the end of the month, students will be selected to participate in the morning announcements.

Student Growth Assessments

Students in grades 3-5 will take the State mandated Student Growth Assessments during the week of September 12. Students will be tested in Reading and Mathematics. These assessments will provide us with a lot of great information about each child and how best to provide our instruction. Please encourage your child to his/her best for these assessments.
