The Warrior Weekly
Week of November 16th
I want to start this week's message by thanking all of our students and staff for the respect they showed during our Veteran's Day Assembly last week. A big thank you to Mrs. Dye from the Primary building as well as Mrs. Schieffer who worked extremely hard to put on a show worthy of the thanks we owe all of our Veterans and the ceremony was outstanding. It is a credit to the Winfield community and our families that our students showed such a high level of respect for all of the Veterans in attendance.
It is amazing that we are already moving into the second half of November. The Holiday season is upon us and I am looking forward to the many special events that will occur in the upcoming weeks. Please be on the lookout for information about all the happenings throughout the Winfield School District.
It has been great to see so many students bringing in food items during the past week as we all work to "Knock Out Hunger" in Winfield. The students are excited that our NEHS has added another layer of excitement to our food drive by creating a grade level challenge with the winning grade level earning the right to compete in a kickball tournament. We thank all of our families for their support as we attempt to assist those in need within our community.
As always please call, email or stop by the office if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions.
Proud to be a Warrior,
Jeff Schultz

Hello Warriors!
In the upcoming weeks I will be discussing the Zones of Regulation with all of our Intermediate School Warriors! The Zones of Regulation give our students a concrete example of what they are feeling and how to handle different emotional states. For more information you can follow this link. In our lessons, students learn how to use strategies or tools to stay in a zone or move from one to another. Students explore calming techniques, cognitive strategies, and sensory supports so they will have a toolbox of methods to use to move between zones. To deepen students’ understanding of how to self-regulate, the lessons set out to teach students these skills: how to read others’ facial expressions and recognize a broader range of emotions, perspective about how others see and react to their behavior, insight into events that trigger their less regulated states, and when and how to use tools and problem solving skills. If you have any questions about how these tools can help your students outside of school please feel free to contact me at anytime.
