Picture Re-take Day

School pictures were distributed to students last week and should have been brought home to parents. If you wish to order more pictures, please follow the directions on the personal calendar that each child received. Van Gogh Photography will be back in the building for picture re-takes on Monday, November 29.

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope that everyone has a happy, healthy, and safe Thanksgiving. Please take the time this week to truly reflect on all you are thankful for in this world. Let this be a time to "recharge your batteries" and enter into the Advent season with renewed hope and joy!

Scheduling a Parent-Teacher Conference

Conferences to discuss student progress during our first trimester of the school year will be held on Friday, December 3. We have decided to offer either an in-person or virtual option for meeting with teachers. Parents and guardians should receive a "Calendly" link from teachers this week which can be used to schedule the conference. When you reserve a time, please select whether you want to meet in-person or virtually.

If you select the virtual option, you will be sent a link for Google Meet which you will use for your conference. This link can be shared with multiple guardians as well.

If you select the in-person option, please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  • Masks must be worn at all times while inside the building
  • Only 2 adults may attend a conference with a teacher
  • No children should be accompanying parents/guardians during the conferences

We understand that there may be occasional scheduling conflicts and we apologize that everyone may not be accommodated perfectly. Should you be unable to schedule a conference with your child's teacher, please contact her/him and we will do our best to make sure that a meaningful conversation can be had in the near future.

Please refer to the pictures below for guidance on setting up your conference once you have received a Calendly link from your child's teacher.

Restorative Justice at Home (Part 4) - Academics

This month, I am trying to bring more information to families regarding our Restorative Justice practices at St. Stan's.
  • Week 1 focused on RESPECT and how families can have productive discussions about what respect means for each of you (click here to view)
  • Week 2 introduced the concept of a "talking piece" to make sure everyone is heard as well as taking intentional time to have some fun as a family (click here to view).
  • Week 3 emphasized the positive importance of "I" statements when discussing conflict so that the speaker takes ownership of their actions and feelings (click here to view)

The Restorative Justice at Home lesson for this week focuses on how Restorative practices can also be useful for academic achievement, not just social-emotional growth. Restorative circles, talking pieces, etc. are great ways to facilitate productive and educational conversations. Below are some ways these practices can be used for the various subjects we teach in school.
