What is Sickle Cell Anemia?

Sickle Cell Anemia, better known as Sickle Cell is a birth defect that is inherited. With this you don't have enough healthy red blood cells to carry needed oxygen throughout your whole body. The red blood cells become sticky and rigid. They are shaped like crescent moons, causing them to get stuck in your small blood vessels, slowing or blocking blood flow and oxygen completely.
