2nd Grade Animators
In second grade, we have been busy creating our own SAM animations. We learned about story boarding, and studied the history of animation. We loved learning about Walt Disnery's first full length cartoon, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Each child is now creating their own custom animations. So far, we have created cel animations, object animations and time lapse animations. We still have lots to do! Our next step is claymation!! For our final project, we will take something we learned in social studies or science, and create an animation about the topic using some of the techniques we learned. We are having so much fun, and picking up new technology skills quickly!! Ask me how to create a Cel Animation? Check out a sample project below.

3rd Grade Architects
In third grade, we have been studying the 3 elements of architecture: beauty, function, and strength. During the beginnning of the unit, we studied famous buildings, and the design elements that made them unique and beautiful. We were so excited about creating our bedroom floor plans that Mrs. Rhodes decided to change our the unit a bit. We are going to design a 3D dream home for ourselves. We will have to consider the 3 elements of architecture in our design. Can't wait to share with you! Ask me about how to use scale when creating a blueprint? I can also tell you about different archtectural features on buildings like a post and lintel, or, our favorite, the flying buttress! : )
4th Grade Inventors
Fourth grade is very busy getting ready for The Invention Convention. We have been working cooperatively in our groups, which is allowing us to get more accomplished during class. Mrs. Rhodes taught us about creating color schemes, fonts, and logos to make a visual impact. We are doing VERY well with all of the new technology skills Mrs. Rhodes taught us. Ask me how to create charts on Excel and make them look pretty? We are looking forward to creating our own business cards in Publisher. Don't forget to put May 9th on your calendar. We will be at Bridge Valley sharing our inventions.

5th and 6th Grade Lawyers
Fifth and sixth graders are busy getting ready for our Mock Trial. Mr. Testani even joined us for a role play one day. We are working hard to understand the relevant laws related to our mock trial, State of Texas vs. Jordyn Young. We each got a chance to apply for a role in the trial. Once we get our roles, we will be learning about how a trial runs, opening and closing statements, and effective questioning techniques. Ask me to explain what beyond a reasonable doubt and presumption of innocence mean, and how they are relevant to a trial.

5th and 6th Grade Mock Trial
The trial will begin at 6pm. Make sure to arrive a little early. You will have to go through security, and it can take a little while if everyone arrives at the same time. Expect the trial to run about 1 - 1 1/2 hours. Looking forward to a great evening!
