History of Badminton
Badminton was invented by British military officers. Badminton goes way back to ancient Greece about 2000 years ago. It began in the 19th century(1870). Badminton was named by The Duke of Beaufort after badminton house in Gloucestershire, The IBF is base is now located in Gloucestershire.

Equipment used
In badminton there are some equipment you need in order to play. First you need a court, a court is wan area of play, as defined by the outer boundary lines. Then you need at net, the first net used was a tennis court net. Next you re going to need posts, pots are what helps your net stay of the ground. You also will need a racket, it is used to hit the shuttlecock. Last but not least the shuttlecock is a piece of cork with goose feathers sticking out of one end.
Different types of shots
There are many different shots used in badminton. The clear shot, the clear shot is were you contact the shuttlecock in the middle of your racket and it will make the shuttlecock go higher, this shot is used when you need more time to return to base before the next return. The drive shot, the drive shot is a direct hit when you want the shuttlecock to go right over the net and then land. This shot is a powerful quick shot. The drop shot, the drop shot is used when the shuttle is heading towards you in the first half of the court, this shot is played by hitting it upwards before the shuttle hits the ground. The smash shot, the smash shot is when the shuttle is high up in the air and you want to angle it downwards over the net. This shot is considerd the most powerful shot out of badminton.
