February 2019 Newsletter
College Hills Elementary PTO
Dear College Hills Parents & Guardians,
Wow, the 100th day of school has past us. We kicked off the new semester with Watch D.O.G.S. signing up over 20 dads to volunteer on campus for a day (more are welcome), Paw Awards, UIL competition, Author visit for 3rd & 4th grade, Austin Zoo Animals during CAMP, Enrichment day, Spirit Night,100th day of school, AVID Night & Oakwood Orchestra visited 4th grade. What a packed month! It's hard to believe we are already looking at next year for the 4th graders moving up to the intermediate campus.
A few upcoming events to highlight is our annual Reading Around the World Night on the 7th, Valentine's day parties on the 14th, student holiday on the 18th, Black History program on the 21st (4th grade students are putting on the program) and the Spring book fair will start on the 25th. Mark your calendars and we will see you there!
Traffic Safety Concerns:
Safety is always a top priority for our school. I would like to take a moment to remind everyone of a few drop off and pickup procedures. When dropping off a student in the morning it is illegal to make a left-hand turn coming into the parking lot. This is a city ordinance. You can be ticketed and fined for the offence by police. Please don’t drop off your students while on Francis waiting to turn right into the parking lot. Students coming to school in a car will be dropped off by going through the parking lot lines. Driving through the line only takes a few minutes and it is the safest way for your student to be dropped off. During drop off and pickup Williams St. is to be used for buses only. Please follow all city and campus signs, so that we keep every child safe and families don’t see red & blue lights in their rear-view mirror. Thank you for your cooperation!
Also, The 2017–18 School Report Cards (SRC) are now available on the Texas Education Agency’s website at http://tea.texas.gov/perfreport/src/index.html. The purpose of the SRC is to inform parents and guardians about a campus’s individual characteristics and academic performance. For a direct link to College Hills click here.
Thank you for working with us to give your child the best education!
Have a Tigerific Day!
