Week of February 6th-10th, 2023
Campus Attendance Goal is 97.5%
100th Day of School- February 6th
We are once again partnering with Day 1 Bags to deliver Valentine’s day cards and fuzzy socks to those often overlooked on Valentine’s Day, Nursing Home Residents, and Local Foster Youth.
Our goal is for every BISD student to create one Valentine’s card, however, we would love to achieve multiple cards per student. Please strive to have students write a kind note on each Valentine (no blank valentine donations, please). We are asking that Elementary students craft and donate for the Nursing home residents and Secondary for the Foster youth.
Please ensure that the sock donations and cards are gender-neutral.
Unopened candy will also be accepted and used for Valentine’s Day Deliveries by Day 1 Bags.
Please see the photo below for additional information.
We appreciate your support and help with this important community outreach project!

See Something, Say Something
School safety is very important, and it's up to all of us to work together as a team to prevent bad things from happening.
If we all stay alert and work as a team to report dangerous or suspicious activity, we can help keep our schools safe.
If you call after 2:30 p.m. the office will transfer you to the classroom, but it is possible the teacher may not answer if they are teaching.
Please note the following procedures that will be in place to help this process go smoothly when it begins.
- Visitors MUST check in at the front office by presenting their ID and obtain a visitor's pass.
- Visitors will be able to eat with their student(s) outside in our courtyard. We have wonderful picnic tables. No friends or classmates will be able to join.
- You are welcome to bring food for your student(s), but it cannot be shared with other classmates.
- Visitors will NOT be able to walk with students back to their class after lunch.

- All vehicles should stop at the crosswalk when pedestrians are present.
- Be on the lookout, especially in the mornings when it is still dark.
- The crosswalk is also in the school zone, therefore all vehicles should adhere to the posted speed limit sign of 20 mph.
We appreciate your help in ensuring the safety of our students.
All foods brought to campus for special occasions such as birthdays MUST have an FDA approved label with ingredients and allergens legibly listed.
It is best to have treats delivered to the office by your child's lunch so they can be eaten in the afternoon.
Birthday Marquee Announcements
Don't forget to celebrate your student on their birthday with an announcement on our marquee! Please purchase your announcement at least two weeks prior to the birthday date. The child's first name only will run on the marquee the entire week of their birthday. All funds go to back to support our school!
Our application is now 100% online. Paper CHC forms will no longer be accepted. Anyone volunteering on campus must complete the application and receive their approval by email before arriving to the volunteer event.
This is the academic calendar for the 2022-2023 school year. All student holidays are reflected.
The Herff Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is an all-volunteer, parent-run, non-profit organization committed to strengthening, enhancing and encouraging the educational and social environment of Herff Elementary.
